Sometimes several times a day. My motor crapped out about a year ago and I have not gotten around to replacing yet so mine is manual. It is actually quicker to open and close this way (rationalizing my procrastination?). Any time it will be out of sight (like running errands) it gets closed. Like someone wrote earlier, catch the lid so it doesn't slam on windshield frame - mine did that one time and that "catch" became procedure.

My top is down anytime it's a nice day with temps between 35 and 85. I bought the car in 2011 as a CPO when it was 3-years old and it was already having top motor issues. My local dealership refused to fix it under the CPO warranty saying I needed to address the issue with the dealership in Denver who sold me the car. Tried that route with zero success and I never made an issue of it with BMW NA.

Roll forward to 2017 and the top's motor works great some days, other days it decides to take a siesta and I have to use the manual option. I have also pulled the two flapper-like plugs and blew out the drains. I do put the top up whenever I park the car.

Still love the car and the top fabric (which we treat once a year) is in great shape.

I keep my current roadster in the garage with the roof down and only take it out on weekends. I do put the hood up whenever I park it in public.

However, I daily drove my previous 2006 Z4 3.0i for 3 years, operated the roof daily, and never had an issue.

My top is down 90% of the time, I'm usually out early morning carving out roads. Keep in mind that my car is not DD, weekends only. I would say give the top a good cleaning, I just finished mine using ragtop. Never sees rain and when I wash the car, the to stays up overnight to make sure it fully dries.
Enjoy your ride
