i believe it's because magic is required, dunno if you have some lying around, but otherwise you'll be SOL. tekarbon just so happens to have a wizard on staff to take care of such issues.

ah man. saw that thread on z4-forum also and thought there had to be another way. i guess we'll never know.

unless they use this method which doesnt require you to seperate the front plastic from the rear: http://www.zroadster.com/forum/bmw_z...t-37_pics.html

I've heard from fairies that there is a very specific temperature/time you need to bake it at. Its much hotter then most headlights as the glue used doesn't melt at a low temperature, its also on the border of melting the entire headlight itself so its a pretty high risk trial and error unless you have spare Z4 headlights lying around. Tekarbon just happens to have found out or figured it out, its going to be a well guarded secret for sure.

They are cut open and re-sealed

I (and others) have tried baking these and it doesn't work, only option is cutting,

Mystery solved

i guess it wouldn't be that hard.... zip wheel hooked to a compressor (or hi-speed dremmel) would be skinny enough to cut through the adhesive and not break away any of the housing or lense. hmmmmmmmmmmm
