Had a nice visitor in the shop today - FormulaD Turbo Z4
Formula D is at PBIR this weekend, so a few drivers stopped by our shop to get their cars prepared. One of them just happened to be the Turbo Z4 of Mike Essa which I have seen quite a few questions asked about the car. I've got the driver and crew here today, so I've been able to get quite a few questions answered about the car and it's setup. They'll be here a few more hours, if anyone has any other burning questions they'd like to have answered let me know.

They're actually going to have a closer look at it vs my Z4MC to see how hard it would be to convert this over to a MC.

Car has a custom transmission, rear end, and the wiring harness is custom as well run entirely by Pectel.

I'm surprised that they have yet to design a better airflow to teh inter-cooler since they went with the horizontal lay-out ??
Their will be some freed up ponies to gain with denser/cooler air by forcing more air passed the bar & plate IC. I wonder if they are getting higher HP numbers than the Super charged cars ?? |

From what I gathered the engine is still internally stock, I'll inquire on horsepower numbers in a bit.

It's a 2003/04 with an M3 S54 in it, I don't think they can really make a kit for that.

Stock BMW ECU, regardless of tune map, requires the light switch and iirc a window switch to function properly...

Stock ECU is gone. They do use the factory harness though modified to run the Pectel, and drift cars run under the lights so that may explain the switch still being there.

Cool, I saw him do a run on friday during qualifying. I went down with my buddy as he had a team going down and I came along for a weekend getaway. Spent most of my time on south beach tho
If I remember correctly, he (mike) barely qualified and didn't make it past first round but I could be mistaken.
