errm...

to get back a little more on topic,

I like the sports button... I guess what i like about it is that it requires less effort on the pedal to accelerate and I also feel slightly more confident with the handling....

I guess the rest of it comes psychologically.

Hey guys, quick question... When you guys enter an on-ramp and speed through it, does your tires screech?

Do you have a stick or automatic? Mine is a 5 speed and with the sport on it makes it hard to shift in the lower gears, and i already have a hard time in the lower gears.

Okay i'm trying to talk serious, and you all are obviously going to have some fun with THIS one.

When I make a sharp turn and step on the pedal, the tires usually screech.... I guess that is pretty normal... I don't know... I am quite the newbie when it comes to driving.

I drive an SMG... I guess its more fun that way.. Cause with the sport button, the engine revs up more quickly and then I can 'shift' at a faster pace.

I feel the sport button also helps during redline shifting.

I think we already covered the best thing about the sport button; the 8 foot blue flames that shoot out the rear. Looks really cool at dusk.

No. Didn't you get the "afterburner" option? It's part of the "extended premium" sport package.

BMW doesn't talk about it much because it makes their mileage per gal. stats plummet.

Bluesharp.....there's always that 1% that don't get the word. We shouldn't let the secret option information get loose.

BTW, your band.....tell us about it. I'm a guitar guy and hack blues player.

LOL---Ahhh, so THAT'S what I saw shooting out last night.

But I thought the blue flame only happened with the foamless mod!!!

Sport Button + Top Down + Foamless Mod =

I tried going foamless but my sweetheart didn't care for the blood dripping out of my ears when I had the top up; she likes blue flames but isn't crazy about bleeding ears. She's just funny that way.

they're removing sections of foam from the sound generator. More engine noise in your passenger compartment.

On some models of the Z4 like the 2005 3.0i, BMW installed a sound generator to tunnel the sound of the engine into the cabin. You can easily (5 minutes/no tools) remove one or all of the three foam plugs that regulate that sound and make your Z4 growl like a litttle beast...

if you drive with the top up a lot, it sounds too loud for sensitive ears... but for wind-in-your-hair people like me who rarely drive without the top down, when you punch 3rd gear with the top down it sounds awesome... I've had passengers inside the car ask about the "V-8 under the hood."

I have been completely freaking foamless for a while now and I would never put it back. GO FOAMLESS!!!

How come no one's ever done a DIY on this? Even on z4um, I don't think I ever saw it.

6 Speed manual in mine. Seriously Rosie, I find that shifting too soon is a problem in the M. You don't have the M but it might be the same issue. Try not shifting too early. Shifts in the M are very smooth when you do not shift into the next higher gear before 4000 RPM. And the added benefit is it sounds so nice too.
