new radio, new problem

hey, just had a quick question to see if this has happened to any of you.
just got a new head unit installed in my 06 3.0i, and now the airbag light is on. can this be reset by me, or is it a shop thing? thanks in advance.

I doubt the HU install did in the airbag.

The passenger occupancy mat is notorious for going bad

I'll tell you what might have happened....... they kneeled on your passenger seat putting in the new head unit and broke the sensor. That's an easy way to make these fragile things fail.

That makes sense. My fear was that they had pinched a wire or shorted something which caused the light to come on. Never would have thought about the sensor in the seat.

Very common problem in the tight quarters of our cars interior ...... you're kneeling on the passenger seat doing something with the top open, or working on or cleaning the dash area, etc., and the next thing you know the occupancy sensor is broken. I can't find anyone to code out the ABG module "OC3" parameters to "nicht_aktiv"....... and I hate to spend the money the dealership wants to replace the sensor....... only to have it break again down the road. I tried one of the aftermarket modules to trick the computer into thinking someone was occupying the seat, but I got a parasitic drain on my battery from it.
