Hi, RW, this is Diane from Niagara on the Lake, Ontario,Canada. I want a Z4 hardtop convertible 350, however, have similar road conditions to yours (I think). Does it handle ok in the snow? I may have to drive it in the winter, or buy my 128 coupe too for the winter. Or a Nissan Jukeor something.

Hello Diane, I was at Niagara Falls, ON 2 weeks ago. Beautiful city.

I'm not sure what a "hardtop convertible 350 is", but I'm assuming you mean one of the non-M variant z4s.

The car will be disabled in the snow with the standard tires, but will get around fine on snow tires. Make sure you get one size thinner than the original ones though. You will experience the rear of the car sliding around a bit, but 99% of the time its nothing scary and you will be in total control. As long as the snow is clearing the height of the bumper, you'll be OK

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with a newer, $20k car just for its snow abilities. I'd at least TRY a z4 with good snow tires. If all else fails, get a used subaru impreza for the snow

I bought it to drive, not store.
re "bought it to drive" I'm from Niagara on the Lake, wanna get a Z4 350 Roadster. Should I keep my 128 coupe too, and get winter tires for it? Or would I be able to drive the Z with winter tires/

I think you're talking about a 2009 or newer Z4 3.5i (not "350") correct? The 2009+ Z4s are all hardtop convertibles, and prior to that the Z4 came in a coupe or a soft top roadster configuration....If so, this is the wrong forum (this is for the previous version of the Z4). The forum I think you want (Z4 3.5i) is here.

Regardless, Roffle Waffle (see post 46) has answered the questions about winter tires which would be applicable the current or prior versions of the Z4.
