Tires
Hello...
I am going to need some advice on changing tires for my 03 Z4 3.0i Sport I understand that the tire sizes are 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rear My questions: If i am going to use the car during winter (I live in Michigan), what would be a good all-season tire? Am I able to keep the tires just in case a few months down the road I decide to change my wheels? TIA Rocky |

If your not an aggressive driver you may not notice the difference, but they will not have the grip that the stock tires had, but if they are non ruflats you will have a much smoother ride. I don't drive my cars in the snow, but got caught in a light dusting this winter, but was able to get the Z home without drama and the traction control (yellow) light on came on a few times

The previous time i got caught in the snow, I was met with an accident.
sigh... how much does it cost for me to change wheel (just the service charge and not the cost of wheels and tires). thanks |

All you need are: -Torque wrench + 17mm thin wall socket ($30 from tire-rack) -power wrench/breaker bar ($8 from tire-rack) -floor-jack ($25 from sears)

The thing is that I am living in a Studio Apartment right now... so its not very convenient to have spares laying around in my apartment. Is there another solution that not driving during the snowy seasons?

As far as Winter tires go on Z4's for Southern Michigan/Ontario Winters - I highly recommend Hankook Icebear W300's - If you decide to flip rubber on your OE wheels you can run 235/40/18's all around on the staggered setup, this allows you the option to rotate. As suggested by others, 17's on a Winter Alloy wheel are the way to go - 225/45/17 is what I ran on my ZHP. http://www.hankooktireusa.com/produc...ail.asp?pid=82 Db

^+1... Some shops will also store the out of season set as well. ...otherwise throw a table cloth over them & use them for end tables

I live in an apartment also and at one time I had 2 sets of wheels in my living room and literally used 1 set as my coffee table.
