Valve Tick
Just purchased a 2007 BMW Z4 3.0 si 5800 miles on the clock. Twice in the last month upon start up there is a noticeable valve ticking. If I turn the car off and restart, it goes away. There seems to be a lot of information on this subject, some of it conflicting. What is the best course of action to take and request of BMW?

Mine took 3 trips to the dealership, until the head was replaced. Replacing the valve lifters themselves didn't do anything. |

I had the lifters replaced a couple of months ago and it seems to have solved the problem. The dealer has to document the problem and the fix process will proceed.
