Thumbs up New Mod (Sort of)

We were one garage door remote short when I bought the Z and our opener is fairly ancient, so finding a third remote was nigh on impossible. I found this universal remote on Amazon for short change and decided to give it a try. It was a cinch to set up and it works very well. I can hit the button as I'm coming down the street and reach the edge of my yard and by the time I swing into the driveway, the door is almost fully open. I used the included double-sided tape to mount it on the removable panel under the dash. When it comes to bang for the buck, this is the best mod I've done. I was getting sick of having to climb in and out of the car to open and close the door every day.

(Sorry for the remote being upside down. I wasn't wearing my glasses.)

Agreed. I was planning to do the mod suggested by jragan, but it looked like a lot of work so I bought a remocon off Ebay. It is so small I velcroed it inside the drivers door pocket so it is invisible. Nobody but me knows it is there. Works great with minimal effort and can operate up to 4 different remote devices as well. I do like the factory look of the setup suggested by jragan though...

Garage List
I have the same Skylink remote velcro secured inside the sunglasses compartment in my coupe roof. Easy to install and operate and out of sight. Here in Seattle we don't need sunglasses so I had to find a use for the storage compartment

I took the easy way out too, just velcro'd the remote inside the Leather Z Armrest. Took 30 seconds and works great.

Nice mod.
Be careful with garage remotes. Never park a car outside your house with the remote in it. Thieves can break into the car, hit the remote and most people don't lock the door between house & garage.
