Thoughts on the 1M front bumper

I got hit today and my front bumper needs to be replaced. I thought it would be a good idea to change bumper to either the M or 1M. I love the look of the 1M but just wanted to see if anyone here has it on and what they thought about the fitment and quality overall.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

karlamparo has it mounted on his Z4 and it looks like there are still fitment issues to work out.

I ordered that bumper last year and promptly returned it after the body shop took a look at it. They were not impressed, to say the least.

I was almost out of luck on the return, too, except that because I ordered it via Amazon there was a bit of a loophole in their wording / policy.

No. Just my opinion, but each BMW has it's own aesthetic. Embrace it.

Aero bumper > 1M bumper. Personal preference, of course, but it just doesn't seem to look right IMHO.

I heard the same thing regarding fitment and quality. I played it safe and went with the factory M Replacement and then the Schmiedmann carbon lip. I do have an extra M Bumper in the warehouse that is in good shape. My next bumper will be a VRS bottom with an APR splitter.

Not a fan of the 1m bumper for our cars, to me its too busy, but that's only for me. NKB make a really nice looking bumper for our zed, but no idea on fittment.

I would go with OEM aero. The M bumper is nice too, but there are some expensive extras that bring up the price:

- brake cooling ducts
- headlight washer caps + paint
- reflectors or holes filled
- plastic mesh
- horn relocation

I'm sure I forgot a few. I have considered swapping back to an OEM aero bumper for the fog lights.

I have had the worst experience with this Duraflex / Extreme Dimensions 1M style bumper, purchased from Amazon seller Vicrez. I'm at work so I'll try to make it quick, but here's what I've gone through since ordering the bumper at the end of December 2015:

Bumper received damaged but looked to have been damaged at the factory, seller filed UPS claim, UPS claim granted, new bumper was sent (allowing me to keep the old), new bumper looked fine but was delivered 7pm and I had to use a flashlight to inspect. Important note: Seller at some point around this time began communicating via phone and text message, outside the Amazon message system. I thought nothing of it at the time.

When I got this bumper to the body shop they pointed out some minor damage, potential problems with fitment, and told me honestly that the bumper was junk and lazily molded. They said they didn't feel right putting such a low quality product on my vehicle even if they did their best to "fix" it. They recommended getting a refund.

Got back in touch with seller (who kept placing blame on the manufacturer as they never have their hands on the product) who provided me the return address for the manufacturer. They stated, "we've decided to stop selling products from this manufacturer due to many similar complaints." I paid about $330 to ship it back via Fedex. I sent it back to the manufacturer who, upon arrival, noticed the damage and sent me images of the exact same damage the bumper already had when I got it. They then told me that regardless, the seller is the one holding my money, but if I wanted to get my money back for the product plus shipping, I'd need to file a claim with FedEx. And the woman, when I told her how Vicrez was no longer going to sell their products, told me they were not aware of that and are still doing business with Vicrez.

FedEx denied my claim, wasn't sure why at the time, contacted Amazon seller and filed a claim for a refund. Seller responded that I wasn't within the 30 day refund period and claim was closed. Filed an A to Z dispute and seller said the provided tracking # showed an address different than their own. Dispute was closed because I did not send it back to Vicrez directly, which is because they instructed me to send it elsewhere.

At this point I have now reopened the dispute and told Amazon the seller had instructed me to send it to Extreme Dimensions. The problem is the proof of that isn't in my Amazon account as the seller was contacting me via text at the time, texts which have been deleted because like an idiot I recently figured there was no harm in cleaning up my 1000+ text messages potentially hogging space on my phone. FedEx did send me a letter stating the reason they denied the claim is they'll need me to get the shipping store to file the claim for me, but to be honest this was not a problem with FedEx's delivery and I do not feel that is the correct route to go.

So here I am, 5 months later, out about a thousand bucks with nothing to show for it. Well, actually I was able to sell the extra bumper for $250 to cover some of the return shipping. If Amazon fails me I will try disputing it via my credit card but I feel like due to the amount of time that has passed, along with the circumstances the seller has placed me in by having me send it back to the manufacturer, I may be screwed.

If I do get my money back, I'm buying the Aero bumper which is cheaper and will fit perfectly. If I had found that one at the time, I would have skipped the after market version, as the Aero bumper is cheaper, OEM, and better looking.

Wow that totally sucks ! Sorry to hear that you had such a lousy experience with this disreputable seller.

I think the Z4Mbumper is the best looking for these cars. I just wish you could keep the foglights. The Aero reminds me too much of the pre facelift.

Oh well.

I just added fog lights behind my grill and am very happy with it. You cannot even see them during the day, but make all the difference at night
