Windshield seal help
Hi Everyone.
The plastic going along the bottom of my windshield is really brittle, flakey and comes apart when you touch it I want to replace this part, but don't even know what it's called! Please can someone help me? Maybe point me in the right direction of where I can order one? I think I'm going to have to replace the whole plastic cover as it also goes under the wipers, maybe I can put some kind of rubber seal along it instead? Any help would really be appreciated and paid back for with beer. I did take a photo, it's not that clear, but hopefully it'll show you what I'm babbling on about a bit better. Thanks in advance |

Had mine replaced under warranty once it started to warp after about 3.5 years and 45K miles -- doubt is the mileage, probably time in the sun/UV exposure.
Not the first time I've seen this part mentioned as degrading, so I imagine it's going to be a continuing replacement item over time. If someone does the replacement themselves out of warranty, posting a DIY could be pretty handy |

I did find a Canadian company Bimmerspecialists (I think), nice 3 day shipping and no excesive 'brokers fees' that us Canadians get fleeced on (with a bit of luck ) |

It sucks you can get the "deals" we get down here. That part goes for $92.68 at ww.bmwpartzdirect.com(North Haven BMW). There have been other posts detailing how to remove the old one and install the new one. Most certainly a DIY job.

They used to say it was because of the exchange between currencies, but at the mo the Canadian $ is worth more than the US $, but things still cost more. Oh well. |
