High pitched engine knocking? Help....

Hey guys - so I have a 06 3.0SI roadster, only 13K miles. Bought it used, it was lady driven and drives well.

Started it up this morning, and heard some fairly loud knocking, and it wasn't consistent in rhythm. Imagine you cut a wood broomstick in half and started hitting them together, that's what it sounded like. It wasn't consisten, it would be "knock...knock knock....knoc.....knock knock knock....etc"

I can't hear it while driving but only heard it at idle Haven't driving my car in a week either.

Any idea? Just a bit worried...I just got it last Oct, and not an engine guy...not my expertise. Should I get it checked out by a garage or stealership?

RMP motors would be a good place to have it checked.

Maybe bad gas / bad octane? Are you sure it was coming from engine? I would also check the fan area - maybe something came lose and was getting hit by the fan/check fan blades for any cracks or uneven wear, etc.

Check your oil level. If it is slightly lower, it will make more noise from the lifters. Fill to top and check noise again.

What Dubbedown says. sounds like the sticking valve issue.

Do a quick search and you find it is common. I had the head replaced when I had an SI.
