psygnosis is absolutely correct.
• Changes the throttle response on ALL models • Changes the steering feel on non-M models. ///M cars have mechanical steering so nothing happens… • Changes the shifting points on Auto/SMG models NO (none, nada, zip) non-///M cars came from the factory with ///M mechanical steering. You have an ///M steering wheel but the standard Z4 electrical steering system. |

You have the coveted ///M sport steering wheel, but what it connects to is the same and any other non-///M Z4. The plus side to this is that you do not have a power steering reservoir (fluid) to maintain. |

Note: M Sport Suspension is not the same as the Z4 M suspension. The non-M with the sport suspension actually sits a tiny bit lower.

Also, the traction control on the Z4 M is only ON or OFF. The non-M has ON, DTC, and OFF.

DTC and DSC are two different modes of operation. On my standard Roadster, I never used the DTC mode. Never had a reason to. On the ///M I only turn off DSC on the track.
Standard E85/E86 cars have a modified E46 (pintal mount strut mounting), whether its a sport or non-sport suspension. The ///M's have a modified E36 (two bolt endpoint strut mounting). I have no clue to which type is better. They are just different... |

If I leave the traction control normal and try to turn into traffic quickly the car just cuts all power. If I tap the DSC button to switch it to DTC mode it allows some wheel slip and I can go just fine. It also allows for a little fun in the wet.
I rarely turn turn the traction control completely off.

I have a DTC button on my 3.0 si coupe. From the beginning I bought my car I always keep this button off. Because I'm afraid of rear wheels sleeping in traffic. So when the sport button is on, and the DTC button is off, I suppose there will be no rear wheels slipping . Am I right? |

What did I say about the sport button? Three things and three things only. It has no effect on traction control.
I enable DTC because it allows for more wheel slip and the car wont be so aggressive in cutting power. I've heard that the traction control in the Z4 M acts similar to the normal Z4 in DTC mode.

Don't be a dumbass, drive safe, and within your limits. It has the same effect as a heavy foot. Sport Mode + Cruise Control = no difference.

dear all, I see you have a lot information about these cars.
I have another question about my car. I mentioned before I have 2007 3.0 si coupe. When I bought my car the ex-owners said me that this car's ceiling metal and front hood consists of magnezyum in order to make extra weight and balance for the car body. Is it be true? |

IMHO, if you have never been on the track, then leave on all the nannys (DSC) on, sport mode off and shift with what is comfortable to you for your first couple of days or events. Then you can start to experiment, abet, slowly... |
