Constant pressure valve leaking

It took me about 2 hours to do this repair and a majority of the time was spent trying to find the right tool for the job. The problem is getting leverage to break the valve loose. I will never, for the life of me, figure out why the engineers decide on how some valves, bolts, etc are designed. If this valve had a 13mm head that you could fit a simple wrench on, it would have been taken care of. Instead, you need something with a flat head.

End of rant....I made my life easier by removing one of the sensors from the midpipes as well.

I lubed it with oil....I never install anything with a o-ring dry

^ that was my next question.....
Is there not a proper O ring lube, depending on the material?

I used a dab of new 10w-60. Never a dry seal here either.

I wanted to compare some quotes on my 2006 Z4MR for some upcoming work.
1) Engine bracket mount bolts replaced 2) VT mounts 3) RE mounts 4) CDV 5) CPV seal replaced. I have all the bolts, seal, and parts. So I got a quote from a performance oriented BMW/Porsche shop and the quote has $ 150 for the seal replacement ( 1.5 hours ) He tells me that the headers need to be taken off to get to the CPV. Is this correct or not ? My stand on this was that since all the other work is going on, it should not take him 10 minutes to unscrew the valve, put my 400* seal on. I could see that if it was the only thin being done, this would be a bigger job. I even offered him my stubby drag socket, but he said he had one.

Incorrect. I've replaced mine twice, removing only the bottom reinforcement plate.

I explained to him that I've read everything there is to read on this and other forums on the subject. I bought the stubby drag socket because I intended on doing this myself. He told me he has a Z4M in his shop on the lift right now and the headers got to come off. I told him all I remembered reading about header removal associated with the CPV was guys that had special aftermarket headers. This place is called Speed Syndicate in St Pete and they come highly recommended. I was talking with the owner. He told me if he was wrong and it took them less time, he'd charge me accordingly.

It's definitely a pain to do it with headers in place. Possibly harder with the North American Catted headers in the way. That's why everyone should put a new o-ring on their CPV when upgrading headers. With the headers out of the way it's a 5 minute job. It takes longer to remove the hard old O-ring from the CPV than it does to remove or replace it onto the engine.

During these recent upgrades, the constant pressure valve was replaced:

New Bilstein B8 performance shocks/struts, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, replaced OEM front control arms with BMW ZHP performance control arms, OEM front control arm bushings, all new spring pads, strut support guides and bearings....front lowered 3/4 inch & rear 3/8 inch....4 wheel alignment....performed by Eastside Bavarian - Eric the Tech's acumen, detail, thoroughness and precision is awesome....

First impressions....the visual change is freaking awesome....the seat time reveals it feels like it's on rails....freaking awesome.

My CPV was replaced a few weeks ago without removing OEM exhaust.

Yeah, I took it to my neighborhood indy called German Imports. They of course did not have to remove headers. This guy at the performance shop is a BMW/Porsche specialized shop and since he didn't "apparently" know this, it turned me away from him. They are supposed to be THE SHOP for suspension and precision alignments, so I'll give him a shot at that job when the time comes.
