new disc's required front/poss rear...

So I am looking to replace my front discs on my Mcoupe, they are not totally gone yet, but another 5 K Miles and they will def be due for replacement. Anyone point me in the best/cheapest direction for these puppies? I do want to maintain the drilled disc, but don't care if its not OEM.

and before you ask, I don't have the dosh to fork out for a BBK.

Also possibly looking at some pads. Ive got a track day coming up next month...

any info would be much, much appreciated.

I think there are Zimmerman rotors that match OEM (look identical, cross-drilled, floating hats, etc) but are less expensive. It's been a long time since I shopped. Hell my originals are still in place.

I did bookmark this a while back, Turner has complete packages with OEM rotors and several choices of pads...

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-21...4-m-coupe.aspx

Good luck!

thanks Kevin, yeah just been looking too, looks like Zimmerman are pretty close to half price compared to turner's.. I've emailed the guys at getbmwparts.com in regards to shipping to dxb, waiting on a reply. ;D

can anyone vouch for the quality of the zimmerman rotors?

Where did you guys find Zimmerman rotors for cheap? Last time I looked, Zimmerman rotors cost similar to OE rotors...so I didn't bothered with them.

The cheapest place for OE rotors that I can find was from Tomkinson BMW (http://www.tomkinsonbmwparts.com/), but shipping was a killer - they wanted double for what was originally quoted to ship these puppies I decided to order from them anyway since it comes out to be lowest, compared to my other options.

Zimmermann two-piece cross drilled fronts ($218) and rears ($186) are available from http://www.rmeuropean.com/ with free UPS ground.
I have the Zimmermann fronts and they look and perform just like the more expensive BMW OE rotors. I run them with PF-08 pads for track use.

But the OE rotors aren't that much more expensive than Zimmermann. When I ordered mine back in April from Tomkinson BMW, the OE fronts were $213.86 and rears were $160.04. However, shipping was $80

440ish & $30 shipping for all 4 corners?

Please let us know how the akebono perform once you have them installed. I'm assuming that you got the euro ceramic pads?

I wonder if you could have it shipped to a friend who lives in the states and he then ships them to you.

With the shipping involved in getting heavy rotors to Dubai and BMW's sold all over the world aren't there better options somewhere much closer to you? What would it cost to ship 4 rotors and pads from the U.S. to Dubai?

I would reship them if you wanted, but unfortunately David70 is probably right that it would cost a huge amount in shipping.

Have you tried PMing Donovan? He's in Germany, and obviously knows how to get hard to find BMW parts. He might be able to recommend a supplier.

With those ECS rotors, what a good brake pad to go with it? Ebc front red stuff? Or are they a bit harsh?

I have those ECS rotors with StopTech Street Performance pads.
Good grip, lower than stock dust, no noise, but after less than 10k miles I started getting some front end shimmy under moderately hard braking.
Seems to have gotten better after some rebedding, but still a little there.
I hope to be changing my FCABs this weekend, along with shocks on all four corners.
We'll see how it is next week.

DO NOT BUY the ECS rotors, you will severely regret it.

I had two defective sets in a row. ECS took care of it both times, but I had to really press them to pay for the shipping (like $80). And come on, 2 sets of defective $500 rotors in a row? Even one set is too many. Both had ridiculous runout, the second set had one rotor with almost .006". Thats totally out of hand, a BMW OEM rotors will have less than .001" almost every time. With our tight steering, you will very easily feel .0025" of runout when you brake.
