GB Interest: Z4M Custom Front Aero + GB updates

OK, as per above I have worked the 1st piece all the way through to completion.
Its a crazy time of year, so things have been dragging out longer than expected.
But now that this one is complete, the rest will roll though much quicker in more of an assembly line fashion....

This is the kit complete and ready for painting.
I did a final test fit on the car using the production fasteners on the underside.
In these pics the 3M tape has not been used, so fitment will be even better when done fully.

I will be making up a pdf DIY that will get emailed when the product ships.

Things are moving along nicely but to be honest it has taken much longer than anticipated.
Thanks guys, for your patience with this.

All the pieces have been individually fitted, sanded and prepped for layups.
There are just a couple of fine finishing details to be done in the next few days.
I will be full steam ahead with layups next week.

I'll get a full update posted early next week with more pics from along the way.

Here are a few pics that bring us up to date.

One of the things that I did with this batch is fit and install the insert fasteners at an earlier stage, using the mounting hardware that will be supplied with each unit.

The pieces for each kit are marked and individually fitted as one unit.

This is final shaping of the side arch which is definitely a little on the finicky side.
Its hard to see.. but a foam mirror curve had to be created as a base in the jig so that the side is indexed into the jig properly.

Inserts layout complete , ready for dremeling......
This batch did in my trusty old dremel tool..... had to go shopping for a new one

Side arches finished and mated up to side base.
In this stage the pieces are again, test fitted to the fender/bumper

The corner joint is fleshed out with a filler concoction of epoxy with microballoons & cabosil

These are now ready to go back on the car where they will be final matched and fitted.
Plus any final touch ups.
After that they are ready for layups.

We're getting really close with these, except that this month is rapidly evaporating on me.
I'm out of town for 4 days next week & then we're in final countdown to our Euro Alpine tour in September.

I'll push things along as far as I can before we go, but unfortunately they will have to be finished up when we get back.

Just a note before we head out today for Europe....

I had a few days to finish the prep-work to start layups.
I actually had time to start layups but i decided to hold off until we get back.

The problem with starting now is that layups could not be completed and what did get done would be well and fully cured before we got back.
This would lead to a weaker end product as subsequent laminations would depend on mechanical bonding (sanding) between layers.
Whereas a continuous lamination cycle gives you a much stronger chemical bond.

Thanks guys... I'll get this punched out asap when I get back.
