Roof getting stuck half way

Hey guys,

today I tried putting my roof up after I parked, it went up half way and got stuck. I had to let the button go and press it a few times, then it started to work and the roof finally closed. Any idea what could be happening? I tried opening and closing a few times and it was the same problem.

I hope its not my motor giving out—is that an expensive replacement and part?

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

My motor went. Top would struggle to go up like it didn't have the strength till one day it just wouldn't go up at all. The motor itself is like $300 but with labor it's about $900.

I just pulled the manual release and put it up and down manually for now. Not a big deal since I only put it down when I know its going to be nice out.

Yikes!

If I do have to replace the motor, it would just be the Hydro unit ( 54347193448 $390) or would I have to get the whole Hydraulic unit (54347079586 $1,200) ?

Also, When you pull the lever in the trunk, so you have to pull it every time you want it to go up and down? or just once? and if once, how do you make it go back to the Hydro unit? dumb question, but I don't have access to the manual at the moment.

thanks

Not sure about the motor, but I think it's the $300ish one.

Once you pull the manual release you just lock it by turning it a bit so the handle doesn't go back into the sleeve. Then you can use the button just to lock and unlock the top and put it up or down manually. When you want to go back to using the motor you put the handle back into the sleeve I believe.

Unless you have a seal leak on either the left or right hydraulic cylinders, then the only parts you need are the motor and I do recommend you replace the motor housing (Sound Insulation) at the same time,

There is a very good DIY on how to do this.

oh right. Duh on my behalf...lol Thanks.

I just tested my roof right now, seems to be working fine. I made it go up and down like 10-12 times, it got stuck once, I pressed the button again and it closed.

So i'll wait it out and see how it goes.

Try lubricating the hinge joints and the locks on the front edge.
It could be as simple as some excess binding. Or not..

Cool, just sprayed the joints, lets see how it goes over the next few months. I barely drive.
