Depending on the tire you choose, you will need to dial in at least -2.5 degrees negative camber in front (especially with extreme performance tires such as the Hankook RS-3).

Randy... Very interested in this set up. I am running my arc-8 track wheels as my street setup and will be changing up my track set up.

265/35/18s square set up with some camber plates on H&R coil overs would work right?

A 265/35/18 square set up on your Z4 is very doable with the required negative camber in the front. Depending on the type of tire you end up using we like to see at least -2.5 degrees of camber in the front or maybe more if you are using a wider extreme performance or R compound tire. Additionally a small 3-5mm spacer may be needed for the tire to clear the strut tube. Before installing the wheels we also recommend checking clearances against your H&R coilovers. Sometimes the ride height adjuster and spring need to be adjusted up to make more room for the wheel and tire. Otherwise you will need to use a wheel spacer to for added clearance.

I plan on running R compounds so would a 245/275 set up be better?

I don't want to have any rubbing issues in the front.

Camber plates are not only used as an aid in fitting wider wheels and tires but also as a tool in tuning the car and a performance enhancement. Any wheel and tire set up can benefit from camber plates because a person can use more of the tire's tread effectively when under cornering loads. A 245/40/18 R compound tire is a very wide and tall tire and would still need camber plates in the front. Comparatively a 245/40/18 R compound tire could be sized the same as some 265/35/18 street tires. The only 245/35/18 R compound tire that any tire manufacturer produces is a Kumho V710 that utilizes older tire technology and is not favorable compared to the Nitto NT01 or Toyo R888.

Anyone have a rim split yet? My father called me today (he is using my car while I'm out of province) and told me he was having problems keeping air in the tire and they couldn't find hole at the shop but then realized the rim was split. No track use just regular use.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with one of your wheels. Many variables can increase the likely hood of wheel damage on the street such as a stretched tires, run flats, but even with the most ideal setup a bad pot hole or other harsh impact can damage any wheel available on the market. We've sent you a PM requesting details about the issue, so that we can better understand what you've experienced. We'll use this information to process a warranty replacement if eligible.
