LOL. Here is a question: Is my 2008 3.0si supposed to have the "3.0si" emblems on each side of the car behind the side marker?

It doesn't. I had not noticed.

There’s a 3.0i and 3.0si. The si has two Disa valves the i doesn’t have any. If the PO debaged it and all you see is the roundel side marker you need to look at your intake manifold or look up your vin on a vin decoder or any other official paperwork can’t remember if a carfax report shows the trim difference or not.

I decoded the vin. It is as I understood, a 3.0si.

Yep I’d assume a previous owner debadged it pretty common. If you haven’t bookmarked it yet realoem.com will become your new best friend.

No worries. For US market 03-05 were 2.5i or 3.0i M54. 06-08 Non M are 3.0i or 3.0si N52

Yep stock was highest under the M. There’s a how to convert 3.0i N52 to si in the how to section for those that want more out of the i with out going f/i.

In case anyone is curious, these are the tires my buddy recommended. He is a manager at the nearby Discount Tire. They are impressive especially given how inexpensive they are. I just put 5 oversize AT's on my Wrangler so I was already expecting sticker shock. Not so much!

The car came with Potenza's made in 2014. Plenty of tread left but OLD and HARD and noisy and OLD (again).

Four Falkens and a can of fix a flat in the trunk later the car does everything better.

Also, I am getting about 24-25 MPG in normal and occasionally spirited driving on the (sadly) flat roads of Macomb County Michigan. How does this compare? Using 93 octane.

yeah there’s a lot of us here also sporting wranglers though not sure how much longer we’re hanging on to the TJ which also got new tires within the last month. Which discount tire outta curiosity? Sticker shock for our cars come more when you’re looking at a track oriented tire. Mileage seems on par.

TJ, huh? Nice. The current Wrangler is a Sahara JLU. By far the softest Wrangler I have had. Had several different versions going all the way back to a CJ-5 (factory Ford straight 6 with a 3 Spd manual).

I doubt I will ever track THIS car. This is my Sunday morning coffee/loud music drive car. This is my head to the boat car. This is my "no you can't drive it" to my daughter car, LOL. Though I will let her.

FedEx just dropped off the RockAuto box. Cool. I have fun scheduled for tomorrow assuming the garage folks get here today to replace the broken spring on my garage door. If not, I am stuck with the Z inside.

PS - Which DT? Shelby Twp.. Are you a fellow Michigander?

guess you missed my comment about not taking it out on the salt, slag, beet juice MI roads lol. Yeah I’m in Shelby pass by that DT on 23 every day it’s been my go to but normally just drop the wheels off and pick them up rather than bring the cars down to them. Bit of a story there but easier for me that way.

Had leased a JK turned it in after not liking the unlimited. Even with a kiddo we still prefer only 2 doors. The Mrs got the TJ as a grad gift to herself new 24 years ago and is ready for a change, if it wasn’t for the TJ frame rot I’d keep it as a beater but already done safe t cap on the drivers side it’s looking more and more that it’s time.

That is hilarious! I can think of 1 million reasons why people would bring the wheels to them rather than let them put the car on a lift or park their car in that lot (DING!) while waiting. Geoff is the MAN there. He loves me right now as I have purchased 20 (TWENTY!!!) tires from him this fall/winter. I even put new tires on the MC b4 I sold it.

I do remember you making the salt/Michigan comment. Or rather, I remember reading it but not remembering it was you.

I am guilty of driving it too much since I picked it up, but we have had warm weather (relatively speaking) this winter. Twice I have come home and found myself in the driveway, washing it in 38° weather.

Small world, isn't?

Not sure if you’ve hit the post requirement yet for pm just sent ya a line to help keep your thread on topic a bit better issue I had there was years ago when I had spacers before my e85 got heavily modded they took the spacers off and mounted the wheels back without the spacers I’m assuming for liability I was given a spiel about they don’t deviate from stock, but when removing the spacers they used a flat head screwdriver and hammer to break them loose and gouged the spacers mounting faces beyond usability so lesson learned for me there.

Welp, they came last night to fix it but did not have the correct springs. ARRRRRRGGGH! Garage closed until Monday at least.

Lucky the Z is the only car trapped in the garage I guess. About the only thing I can do this weekend in try to blow out the soft top drain holes.

I know the feeling, one of the springs broke on my double wide door and I couldn't believe how heavy it was to lift with only one spring working. Luckily my local distributor had both left/right springs in stock, so I picked them up and installed both, didn't want the other one to fail too. Now it works better than it ever did and I was able to reduce the opener strength a bit
