Wildag, thanks for this. Strangely enough, it looks like you and I have common tastes. My first roadster was an all-black 2001 Z3 3.0. I recently traded it in for a Interlagos blue 2006 Z4M.

One thing that is not obvious is when the model years flip between the 2006, 2007 and 2008 years. They provide the production date but not the year of the car. It appears to me that the 8th digit from the right (the digit right before the two letters) may be the indicator. However, there were some cars produced on the same day in September, 2006 where one car has a 6 it it's VIN on this digit and the other has a 7 for this digit. Could that still be correct?

I ran a VIN with both in a basic VIN decoder and it shows what you thought. Model year is based on that digit.
As to why some cars have a different model year but yet share a production date. Model year has to be based on something other than assembly date. It could be based on order date or status 5050 when a chassis number is assigned. |

Wow! I'd bet that a lot of these were auto, so my non-M 6MT 3.0si Z4C is a pretty rare beast indeed!

Hi Guys, I took the production info and entered it into a searchable Google Doc here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1770110303 Just go to the link and in the menu, select Edit, then select FIND, then enter your VIN. It should pull up your car's info. Enjoy! Please let me know if it doesn't work. I'll try to fix it.

Only 13/25 had Navigation. Thats cool. I was looking through and seeing if I could sort it out by extended leather. I know extended leather was an expensive upgrade.
