Fitting R-S3s onto OE Wheels

Ok Guys,

I just picked up an extra set of OE wheels (18x8 and 18x9). These are going to be strictly my Autocrossing and Track Wheels.

I want to mount Hankook R-S3 tires on them. Don't tell me to get another tire...I'm not taking any suggestions.

Tirerack only shows tires at 225/40/18 and 255/35/18.

Of course, the sidewall ratings aren't correct (OE specs are 225/45/18 and 255/40/18). I was also considering going 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 and 265/35/18. That'll be closer to OE spec and I get more tire.

Would I rub with a 245/265 set-up?

So question is...Is there anything wrong with mounting these tires and running them? They will be driven on a Max of 1 hour to events and back...then removed afterwards.

Thanks,

Kyle

I don't think you'll rub with a 245/265 setup. RS3s are really nice! I currently run 265/275 but with a different set of wheels (front offset is similar though).

I was seriously considering the RS-3s, they look so aggressive, and the are receiving pretty decent ratings.

I would get 245/40R18 and 275/35R18 (They have them in both those sizes).

They will look nice and fat on the OE wheels, and won't rub.

Thanks for re-assuring me that they won't rub. I didn't know if the specs on the front would allow a 245 tire...but Hankook says they'll fit on a 8"-9.5"

Any word on these tires? How do they perform? Have you driven them in wet conditions at all?

I placed a order for 235/265 tires just this week. I wasnt in a rush to order them since my car is now in storage (I'm in school now).

I won't be able to tell you how I like them until next season comes around

Tirerack always defaults to OE sizes...you can just hit "select another size." With stock fenders/lining, most have confirmed that 245/40 275/35 is as big as you can go on 224M's
