Hankook Ventus Evo 12 / anyone tried on coupe?
Considering these, seem to have good reviews and value. Anyone have tried them on their Zs and would like to share their experience, gripes, etc?

If purely a street car i'd say they are a great option we have for the price. At the track they tend to grease up real fast. These are my personal experiences.

I had them on my Mini. For all the hype, I'm not a fan. I thought they were just OK. I wasn't impressed with the grip. Close to their price, there are better choices. I'd spend a bit more and go for the RS3s. Or go with RE-11s or Direzzas. When I switched over to Bridgestone RE-11s on the Mini, they were an improvement in every way. Substantially more grip, Easy turn in, predictable, and very compliant & smooth on the highway

Bridgestone RE-11 Dunlop Direzza ZII Hankook RS3 All probably a tad more than the Hankook Ventus V12, but a big improvement in grip. That said, the V12 is not a bad tire at all if you're not looking for ultimate grip. |

Ventus V12 evo is a decent street tire (not really designed for track) for the money. They're only a Max performance tire, compared to the ones Funkle listed which are all Extreme Performance.
The v12 evo will last longer than the Extreme performance tires but won't grip as well.

I've had two sets now on my non-M coupe. The first were on 18's in the standard staggered 255/35, 225/40 configuration and I was very happy with them. Great grip on the road and decent longevity. My second set was on my older 17" rims running 235/45, 225/45 and, while OK, I like them noticeably less than the 18's. The small difference in sidewall height seems to make a significant difference in "squishiness" when cornering. Again, they're not awful, but they're really missing the crispness I found with the 18's.
It's not bad enough to make me pull them off the car (which I'm mainly using for commuting these days anyway), but it certainly is enough that I wouldn't buy them again in the 45 aspect ratio nor recommend them to performance oriented drivers. |

I had them last year on my 19" set, but after 3000km I sold them. Good tire on my old lexus is350 but too squishy and soft on the coupe. Really suffered under braking and made the front feel unstable. Sumitomo htrz-iii are a much better tire for the same price.

I ran them in my first season of auto-x and DE and they were pretty good, or better than anything else in that low price range. But for a few bucks more, I prefer the Conti DW's.

Agree with this. I'd look at the dw if you can, I've had several sets now as they work very well for the price and are better than the v12 in most measures apart from cost and maybe sidewall stiffness which results in a quieter ride but a little less crispness at turn in. They have more overall grip and maintain that grip longer, good in both wet and dry as long as the temp doesn't drop too low.

I thought they were pretty good too. Until I switched to RE-11s on my Mini and my relative times dropped by almost 2 seconds. My wife, who is no car enthusiast, immediately noticed improvements in turn in predictability & ride quality. But I see the V12 are being closed out at about 75% the price of the RE-11. So if value is your top priority, then they're probably a decent choice. Personally, a few hundred more can noticeably improve all aspects of handling is money well spent.

I ended up replacing with Brdgestone RE050s (basically what is factory spec) because the tyre sop destroyed 2 RFTs while changing and had replaced them for free. Made the outlay much cheaper in the end and tyre quality is good.
