afe intake...a question
Installed the Stage 1 aFe intake today. Probably does next to nothing, power-wise, but good lord, it sounds glorious.
This is my first time using this type of filter. It's the blue, Pro-5R filter, which comes packaged with cleaning and oiling instructions. However, nothing in the printed literature thet came with it confirms that it comes pre-oiled. Since it doesn't come with oil, and since the intake's installation instructions don't discuss oiling as part of the installation, I assume that it's already oiled. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks |

There are two kinds of filters for the aFe, one that is oiled and one that isn't. Check their website.
Congrats on the purchase! I love mine. It sounds even better when paired with an aftermarket exhaust.

The Pro 5R comes pre-oiled. Enjoy.

Thanks, guys.
There's definitely an exhaust somewhere in the future. Gotta find an excuse to go drive now! Last edited by MFGJR; 10-09-2011 at 06:48 PM.. Reason: Can't type! |

Does it make a difference oiled vs. non-oiled? |

All I know is what's on their website- the dry provides more power, but the oiled has better filtration. The oiled is slightly more maintenance since you'll have to oil it when you clean it, and you have to be careful not to use too much oil as it will ruin a MAF sensor.

Sounds like I'll be going with the dry. I can definitely see myself being too liberal with the oil and ruining a sensor.
