Which one looks better?
I am thinking about a little weekend project. I think I am going to make something to block off the the gap between my splitter and bumper to help reduce some drag created by the pocket. Now the question is what do you think looks better.. with the block body color or blocker in black? Please excuse the crap blackberry pic and my even worse skills with MS paint!

I could go with either look, by adding a piece in between you will basically "lose" the fangs if you colour match it. I kind of like the fangs though.
Chris who organized the GB for the splitter is already working on a piece that goes in between the fangs, he already posted pics under one of his threads, can't recall which at the moment. Quick question, are your and your brothers ARC-8s the same colour ? His look like satin black and yours look Anthracite/Hyper Black in some pics. I am definitely digging these rims though i think i am going to pick a set of them up ... as soon as i can decide on a colour, its gonna be a tough choice. P.S. Your MS paint skills are epic. |

I saw the one Chris is making but its not totally the shape I want so I think I am going to make my own. My wheels are Anthracite and my bro's are satin black. Don't go off those pics though for color. Both set of rims are very soiled with brake dust for two days at the track. I was alittle unclear in my first post but the blocker is most likely going to happen either way to rid the car of the drag but the question is more is I should paint it body color or black? I am going to reword the original post.

+1 for black!
I'm wrestling with this idea as well. I was considered aluminum stock, what material are you thinking of using?

I'm going to play the devils advocate.
The black makes it look like you took a splitter and bolted it onto an oem bumper. The white however makes the whole front look alot more "motorsport". You may lose the 'fangs' but you gain visual harmony. |

What about simply removing the trim to open the airway? Remove part#27

On the second pic, I originally thought you cut the fangs off and bolted the splitter to the bumper cover.
The others are correct, it you paint is white you lose the fang look. I am not sure which one I like better. Let me know if you see any difference on the track with the new piece in place. I am very interested... |

Black looks like it belongs there. A white (body color) would look like an extra piece attached to the front.

Sorry, I did not explain myself correctly. What I was wondering is if adding that small piece up front to direct the air flow up over the car and down past the splitter, instead of through the gap, has a noticeable change in downforce? I have already had my car/splitter on the track at VIR and yes, the splitter itself makes a big improvement.. Just wondering if the new piece will make that much more of a difference. It might not be noticeable or only slightly.. |
