Z4M Stromung owners - how does it sound after break-in
Hi Folks - for those select few who are running the Stromung exhaust on the Z4M, have you noticed any difference after you've put a few thousand miles on the exhaust? Most of these systems need a "break-in period" before they really sound how they were designed to sound like. So for those who have had their Stromung's for a while, have you noticed much of a change in tone or volume?

I've had it for almost 3 years. I can't say it has or hasn't changed, as it'd be hard to discern changes progressively over a period of time. At any rate, it still sounds beautiful and even better once it's warmed up and extra toasty.

I've only had mine on the car for about 400 miles. I, however, am NOT impressed. It's OK, but it's louder than I was led to believe it would be, and absolutely drones between 2500-2800RPMS. Right where I highway cruise at 70MPH.
I wish there was someone local to me who ALSO has it, so I could compare notes. |

I just installed mine last night. Sounds amazing, I personally did not find it too loud and vicj I definitely kept you in mind as I drove it on 95 last night looking dor drone. I was doing 70, 2800 rpms and 6th gear and did not hear any drone.
I am heading to Limerock for the races today and will keep an ear open. I LOVE the sound! Authoritative, bass rich and mellifluous but not raspy and makes my M Roadster sound like what it should. |

Hmmm. Interesting. Mine absolutely drones.
When you installed with the seal ring, did you're exhaust flange screw completely back together over the rings, or was there a sizable gap? |

Hey guys - I installed mine last night too... Only drove it a few miles, but absolutely love it so far. Nice deep tone, and only loud when you really get on the throttle (5-8,000 rpm).
My flanges did not marry up tight. According to a DIY thread on here that's how you adjust the height. For me the top bolt/flange was much closer together than the bottom flange/bolt. But the o-ring keeps it all tight so there shouldn't be any leakage (which could probably cause drone if you had a gap there). So as long as that o-ring is tight between the two pipes, I think you should be fine. I did not notice any drone yet... But we were running it pretty hot last night. Will have to test again at slower speeds to see. |

I think they pretty much all drone in the 2000-3000rpm range. My BMS (custom Magnaflow) mufflers drone right at 2000rpm but above or below that area it is perfect.

Update: drove it for the second time yesterday at more sane speeds... And I did notice a little drone between 2-3000 if you are applying a lot of throttle... Which if you are at that rpm range and mashing the throttle you are most likely in the wrong gear and should have downshifted anyways...but nonetheless there is some drone there. But for me it's tolerable.. And easily avoidable.

Mine is EXTREMELY loud in those RPM's, and not when I'm mashing the throttle. I actually DO know how to drive my car. Actually it's far wprse when I'm barely on the throttle...just under load.
