My new Monaco Blue Z4M
So, I am the guy that posted a WTB with a heavy emphasis on Space Gray, and gave up after a few months. Not a lot of patience I guess....
But, I am very thrilled to have found my car, in a very unique color and pretty much ticked all the boxes for me. Basically a bone stock, well cared for, mid-mileage (about 50K), with extended Sepang interior, and wood. I kinda take it on this forum that wood isn't exactly sought after, but I love it, particularly with this interior color. My first BMW ever, and after a 1000 miles drive home from Dallas, it was a pretty good initiation. So a few "first impressions".... First of all the highways in and near Dallas, suck. I mean really suck. So it was kind of a harrowing experience in a "new" car driving 3 lanes of interstate controlled by concrete barriers switching all over the place with striping apparently at the hands of meth addict. No offense Texas, I know you need to build new roads, but that and the need to be within six inches of my rear bumper was a tad un-nerving. Ok enough of that.... So, the car. My frame of reference was coming from a Lotus Exige, so a lot smoother - if there is a luxury version of the Exige, maybe this is it???, though road noise was higher than I expected, at least partially due to crap roads, but once I found some smooth asphalt it was very pleasant. It needs new tires as well, has continentals well past their prime. Power is very strong, and pretty linear, not astounding but it will put a smile on your face. Shifting is a little tedious in early gears and it seems low geared in general - surprised how quickly I would find myself in 5th and 6th. It seem to like being driven more aggressively through the gears in terms of just basic smoothness. Handling is awesome, tracks perfectly though obviously in a track situation would have a different sense. Maybe find that out some day, but anyway I would consider it tight and a pretty connected road feel. Being low to the ground was hard to get use to again (in a good way), because I have been driving a Toyota Tundra for the past couple years. So it takes a while to get use to staring under the bottoms of F250's rolling by. Cabin is compact but ergonomically well done, sound system is decent, can't wait to get some sound coming out of this thing with a new muffler system. I like to shift on sound and feel, not watching the tach. It is very quiet in stock form. Will have some questions folks....as I start down what I will say is a light to moderate mod path. Here is a pic when it rolled into the driveway. Will get some better ones once cleaned and detailed. Getting too long here.... Cheers, and glad to be on the forum with a car now! |

Thanks!
Got it washed up today, looks way better clean! Anyway thanks for the nice comments.
First on the agenda is an oil change plus trans and diff - not a necessity but I will just feel better. I'm a DIY guy, but found out quickly there is no 10w60 locally at O'Reilly, Autozone or Napa. So probably go on line - any recommendations for this? I did order a CDV and that will be done asap. |

I like it but I'm partial to the combination. I have the same color with wood interior. I've gotten a lot of compliments for the color and I prefer the wood over brushed aluminum but to each their own.

Monaco Blue was available: http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=24
And see brochure attached. Among the more rare colors to be sure.

Interior
Thanks for all the kind comments. Here is an interior pic, as you can see no Nav which I kind of take as a plus. I think it is a beautiful combo. From my research I think the car color combo and interior is 1 of 3.
