I would like more info...I have S677A with Nav. Is this for the 2 kick panel speakers only? When I go to "outfit my car" on Cruthfield's website it says I have 10 speakers? This can't be right...

Sorry for the lag guys, I've been crushed at school.

Here's the stats-

13 members interested, pending more details (9 premium, 1 hifi, and 3 TBD)
4 members readty to buy, (3 premium, 1 TBD)

I sent the info to BSW. Hopefully from this group we'll get a good discount with 10 buyers. BSW hasn't given me any specs, but when they do I'll post the info. I'm hoping for a price sheet and spec sheet, but we'll see.

Post here if you want to be included.

Update:

I got an email from Halston at BSW:

First of all, thank you ALL so much for your continued support and extended patience. We had to go back to the drawing board multiple times on this design, as the shallow depth of the door panels on the Z4 wouldn't allow us to use structural components from our other drivers.

As we moved forward with our R&D, it became glaringly obvious that the Z4 chassis suffered from hollow, muddled midrange and unnecessarily harsh response in the upper frequency range. That being said, our first iteration of our Stage 1 for the Z4 is going to consist of a very simple yet extremely effective front midrange/tweeter upgrade. The new drivers are comprised of the same materials and use the same technologies (curvilinear fiberglass-weave midrange cones, silk composite tweeter domes) as our other speaker, and carry our same industry-leading 30 day satisfaction guarantee and 4 year warranty.

You may be wondering why we're not offering rear midranges in our Stage 1 kits, and you're right to do so. In our test Z4 the results of upgrading the rear midranges were stunning, however, the installation process requires removal of the ENTIRE rear end of the vehicle. We feel that the average do-it-yourselfer simply cannot handle this complex of an installation, and it isn't practical for us to be able to support the process in an effective manner. To alleviate the harshness of the rear midranges, we recommend fading the sound more towards the front soundstage.

Now, the above may change if demand (and boundless enthusiasm on you guys' part) says we need to offer these rear midranges. However, as the process took our experienced tech almost 2 hours to accomplish (you can usually double to triple his times for the average DIY'er), it seems a bit unfair to state that our kits are DIY in the case of the Z4 (Coupe and Roadster)
I'm curious the door speakers sound, but based on what we have already, I don't think that upgrading the rear will make a huge difference. I already asked Halston about the price, I suspect BSW is still trying to figure out what the packages will end up being. Any feedback is appreciated, now Halston will be watching the thread.

I'm confused. So does the package only include the tweeters and kicker panel speakers ie. 4 speakers?

Can somebody here chime in with how easy/difficult it is to get at the speaker cones behind the seats?

Correct.

The panels, trim pieces etc ALL have to removed to get to the speaker housing. We worked through it and it becomes less DIY and more install intensive so a front upgrade is a better value and will spend a lot less time in the vehicle. It is cheaper as well at that point.

From my perspective, an easy upgrade.

So I might be thinking of getting this...

I assume the speaker housing is much different than the speaker itself. I have removed the speaker in the rear easily to replace but this was just the speakers not the housing I guess.

i am much more interested in changing out the rear speakers/subwoofers as they produce much worse sound than the fronts IMHO.

to my untrained ears, the front speakers are fine.

i had a 12" alpine type r subwoofer powered by a 1,000 watt clarion amplifier and collectively, the system sounded fantastic....i did not feel like i was missing highs, mids or lows (obviously). the reason I chose to remove the system is because the huge sub box was taking up way too much space in the already small trunk area. so for me personally, I would just like to get an upgrade to give me more lows.

thanks.
