water in trunk, possible definitive fix
Hey fellas,
So i've had my Z4MC for about three weeks now, and last week, I noticed the windows would fog in the morning no matter what, that's not right. we had a good bit of rain and keeping the fog out of the windows was impossible. so after inspecting the trunk area, there was moisture in the fiber carpets and the battery was slick with condensation. Turns out there's a repair notice: RA B-41 06 06. its asking to replace the three nutserts that hold the taillight trim in place. These nutserts have little gaskets which i guess are meant to keep the water at bay but I don't think that's the actual problem area. So looking on the brit Zed Four forum, they suggest the rear body vents (64226909340 ) are the culprits, and more specifically, the gaskets around them. Well, taking their advice, I zipped off the bumper, and sure enough the gasket on the left side vent was pinched and sheared a nasty hole that was about two inches of basically just open area. I replaced the vents on both sides, put a bead of silicone seal around the whole thing, replaced the nutserts and put the whole shebang back together. Its going to rain on Tuesday so we shall see. I'll keep you posted |
