Problem at startup Z4M

Hello people

This is my first thred. I will do the best explication :-)

I have a problem at startup, if anyone has any idea?

Here is the problem:
when I turn the key, sometimes no engine light comes on.
if I try to then start the engine is running but the car will not start.
has every start I turn the key and I have to wait between 0 sec (in this case normal start) and 1 minute and then magically engine light come on, pump it starts and I can turn the key to start the car.

It's very strange ...

I tried with the second key same problem.

I tried to do my best explanation with my bad English, I learned English.

thank you people

have a good day

No worries about the English. Looks good to me! I'm glad you posted, I think we can help.

I think your ignition switch has malfunctioned. Here's a thread that discusses this problem and the solution. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716472

Take a look at the thread. If that doesn't help let us know and we'll look at other potential causes.

Hi,

Many many thanks, i have read the thread and seen the vidéo and i think it's the same problem.

I tried to change the switches and seen if the problem solved.

I was afraid that it's bigger problem, i hope that's it.

When the works it's finish, if it's work, i post a review.

Thanks a lot. Have a nice day.

Do you have a code reader? That would narrow it down.

I reread your post. I think that the Hack's explanation is more likely. Recommended starting with the fuel pump.

Hi,

Thanks for the following.

No code error with the code reader (with my iPhone apps no code and with BMW code reader no code)

For the fuel pump it's possible, i dont know, but i not unterstand the link with the engine light and the fuel pump. Because when the engine light is off the car dont start and when the light is on i hear the pump on and the car start (i think is the noise of the fuel pump).

I will examine the two solutions
When i have news i post a review.

Many thanks for the help guys.

My bet is the ignition switch.

It could be bad ground as well, it's cheap and easy to test. Get a starter cable and put one end on the engine block and the other one to the body of the car or a nut that is attached to the body.

Hello,

Thanks for the propose test for the bad ground.

For the switch, i have ordered a cheap switch for make an easy change test.

If i put the cables what does happen? if the test is good or not good. (the engine light in cockpit turn on? or not?)

Have a nice day

It seems the intermittent dash lights would point more to the ignition switch than the fuel pump. I guess we will know soon when the OP replaces the switch.

It should work right away. If it doesn't, it's not bad ground that's the problem.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the long time i dont have posted.

The winner is the "ignition switch".

If you have simmilar effect proove to change this part is not expensive and it's easy to change.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Bye
