X-Pipe and Muffler options
I currently have
VT2-525 supercharger Euro catless headers 2.5" catless section 1 with small straight through mufflers. they reduce rasp stock x pipe stock muffler Since I'm no longer using this as a daily drive, I want to make it a bit louder but not make it sound like a chainsaw. I'm ideally aiming for a "hollow" sound. My options are: 1. custom X-pipe and stock mufflers 2. custom X-pipe and Corsa mufflers 3. stock X-pipe and Corsa mufflers Is the car going to sound raspy if I mess with the stock X-pipe? Are there resonated aftermarket X-pipes?

Any option you go with will result in more rasp. You've already changed what prevents rasp, catless headers and catless s-pipe. So if I had to make a decision, only thing I would change are the mufflers for two reasons:
- weight savings (carry the OEM mufflers and you'd be glad you changed them) - And rasp won't be as pronounced in comparison of changing the x-pipe Whichever route you go with, the forum would like to see a video |

I currently have euro header, DKF Section 1 with 300cell cat, stock x-pipe, and SS sport mufflers. I have a RE x-pipe (straight pipes - no resonator) en route. I will make some videos between the 2 setups and provide my feedback on sound after I do the install - should help you somewhat.

In my opinion, the Rogue Engineering X-Pipe really brought to life the qualities of the S54 that I loved most. It's entirely opinionated, but I haven't found anyone on the road that hasn't liked it.
I've actually received 4 direct comments outside of car shows from people just cruising windows down over the road. I'm running stock headers, stock section 1, rogue x-pipe, and RPI cans. |

Mufflers first, then x-pipe. Generic mufflers usually don't sound as good on cars with catless headers and s-pipes. The cats hide a lot of the rasp and resonance... once you get rid of them, it a tuned system becomes more important.
I have a video of catless headers, resonated s-pipe, and Stromung mufflers. If you're interested, I can ask the car's owner to post it. I think RatedM had this setup too, so you might check out some of his videos.

thanks for your opinions everyone. The weight of the stock x-pipe and mufflers is definitely a concern. I've picked it up before.
Definitely going to keep the well engineered stock x-pipe for now, and look for muffler options. I'm leaning towards the generic Corsa muffler, because its design eliminates drone. here's how it sounds on an e46 m3
