From what Eloy @ RPI concluded after testing two or three pre-06 is that it WONT fit. Someone needs to drop off their car for R&D if you pre-06 guys want one too. Do it!

Even though the dyno shows top end gains with the scoops, its going to work for low and midrange as well depending on the speed you are going. Oviously the faster you are travelling, you are still going to get good power at whatever rpm you are at.

guess what 04 z4 has a RPI scoop!!

just got mine today from eloy at RPI, ive got an 04 3.0 and i just droped by to see if the current ones would fet with some mods, and guess what! it fit with no mod what so ever. not sure how come some pre 06 z dont line up but if you have an 04 3.0 im sure it will fit right in! so go get one cause let me tell you, ive already got a +2 extra MPG and not to mention the car feels like its a bit faster (odds are ill loose those 2 extra with my lead foot though) but yeah, its a simple and great item to get. highly recomend it. and no, i did not get any discounts or a special deal for saying this, i paid regular price i just happen to be very happy with their product. and i picked up a pair of those skid plates for the M front bumper too! (ive got a bumper swap) great product as well!

Count me in too. Hey Oh Fo Sho, lets try to see if we can get in on a group buy! So far that makes 2 for the pre 06 models.

I just installed one in my '05 3.0 this morning and took a quick drive. I'm not 100% positive on the fitment. I could not line up the scoop with both the rear face, where Eloy put the body kit tape, and the side mounting bracket extension touching metal. I did not screw it in place, but instead used extra body tape (I have a bunch of it) to secure it temporarily. It held in place over the trip of about 30 miles, but I did not notice any immediate improvements. It started to rain so I'm putting this on hold for now. I will re-fit it later this week.

I'd love to hear of some more pre-facelift guys going to see Eloy personally so he can get a better idea of if it truly fits appropriately. I may try to remove the cross brace next to see if it fits better without that bar, or if that's not the issue at all.

The easiest way to do the install is to line it up as close as you can and put the top screw in first. After the first screw is in, put the second screw in (bottom one) and it will press the back tab against the body. Once that is on, put the side screw in. You should not have to use other tape, etc. Also, the rain is NOT a problem at all with the scoop. The local people who have had me installed the scoop on their car have seen me do it. It should take 5-10 minutes max.

no need, got mine done yesterday by Eloy only took him a few minutes... and it looked like an easy straight foward install... only thing you have to remove is the grill and stock scoop.

I have a 2005 2.5i. Is there an RPI Intake Scoop that would fit my model?

hmm what got me wondering was the 200 or so HP...even with drivetrain loss and stuff, I doubt for some reason the HP drop is 55 from the BHP. thats like a 20% drivetrain loss, which is insane. you sure those are accurate? Most Dynos for the SI is around 230 or so WHP...

The Z4M scoops works for the 2.5 as well. I have installed quite a few on the 2.5 with no modifications.

The dyno number is just a number. The whole drive train loss % is a big gimmic and its been passed down from one forum member to another over the years. The only real way to test for drivetrain loss is to put an engine on an ENGINE dyno, then put that very same engine in a car and put that car in a chassis dyno. The main concern for dyno testing, imho, when it comes to mods are seeing the before/after results. The other thing also is how the dyno session is done. I do run cars harder than other people so our numbers are typically lower than if the same car were to dyno at another shop. Again, my main concern is about the number as it is for the change in whp from a modification.

I purchased a used, but very new (excellent) condiition RPI scoop from a forum member that was parting out his Z. I must say it fit just perfectly and it definately feels much, much better! to RPI for making an awesome product!

My butt dyno feels the additional horse power
