18" VS. 19"
Gents, I've searching the threads on this issue but would appreciate your input on rim sizes. What I've determined so far:
19 inch is better looking but heavier thus hurting performance with unsprung weight? 19's ride harder but offer a flatter surface for grip? Will 18's accommodate big brake upgrade kits? Having said this I think as long as the 18's will fit brake upgrades it's the better rim for the Z4M? Is the 18'x9.5 rim the best choice? I'm think 255's upfront and 285's rear. Thank you for your advice. |

yes 19's ride harder but offer a flatter surface for grip? some say. disagree on the grip. most race cars do not ever run a 30 sidewall, so I call BS Will 18's accommodate big brake upgrade kits? of course, but it depends on the wheel Having said this I think as long as the 18's will fit brake upgrades it's the better rim for the Z4M? Your opening a can of worms with this question. For performance, yes. Is the 18'x9.5 rim the best choice? I'm think 255's upfront and 285's rear. for those tire sizes, I think 18x9 and 18x10 wheels. That is an aggressive rear, so you will need to find out the exact tire, as well as rear offset (et22) that will work. You also, may need to increase rear camber and roll fenders if you want to go that big in the rear. Not a big deal, but depending on your needs, it will be easier to put 275's and call it a day. |

If you go with 255/285, try to find tires with 35/30 sidewall instead of 40/35 sidewall. You will have less rubbing into the wheel well that way.
If you go 18x9 offset between 20 and 35 18x10 offset between 20 and 30, go with 245 and 275 tires for a better fit on the rims. If you want to go 255/285, maybe go with 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear, same kind of offset. You will need camber for sure, like -2.8 front and -2.5 rear minimum, maybe more depending on offset. |

if you track i would go 18's. better tire choices. 19s are nicer for a street car, and usually a quality 19 wheel and tire combo weighs less than the factory oem 18" set

The only thing that sucks about 18s, is that most good summer tires wider than 285 only come in 19s. Suck as bridgestone re-11 and advan ad08

I think a 295/30/18 can fit depending on the tire itself, some brand don't fit the same in the same size.
Here is my car last winter, I never drove on them but just test fit and with proper camber I think it can fit. Once my BBK removed, I will put those CCW Lm20 on my car, 18x10.5 et19 295/30/18!!! |
