How to Ship a Car to/from Canada?
Hi everyone
I'm a resident of NJ, USA and would like to ship my car to a speed/tuning shop in Quebec for some work. Does anyone know of what kind of paperwork is involved for the car to cross the border? Anything I've found online is for is in regards to importing a car, for a resident, returning resident, etc. but I plan on bringing my car back to the states obviously so I'm not sure if or what's involved. Also can anyone recommend a transport service who a) is familiar with the process in getting a car across border and b) is careful with our cars? My car is pretty low and last thing I want is my front bumper to rip off as he's taking it off the trailer lol. I'm even considering driving the car up, flying back, and then having the car shipped to me. But something tells me driving north this time of the year with summer tires isn't going to be ideal. Thanks in advance |

These guys took my car across the border into Canada for me in 2009:
http://www.eastcantrans.com/autofleet.html They should know the requirements! They picked up my car in Maine and brought it to me in St. John's on an open truck. I know - yikes! But the car's exterior was pristine after that little ride. The truck driver even called me at work to tell me that he was out on the highway and just an hour away from my house - and then he tells me that a big bull moose just ran in front of his rig! Welcome to Canada!!

Definitely a MAJOR BAD idea to drive up here without snow tires on a car like a Z4. Ship up, drive back in the spring, tour through Quebec City, Montreal etc!

^WHS +1 don't drive it!
Interesting question on shipping it across border. It shouldn't be an issue as its not being imported, but I'm sure there must be some sort of documentation to submit.
