Coolant Expansion Tank

Can anyone tell me where on the coolant tank does it usually crack?
I'm replacing mine as a preventive measure and I thought I could reinforce the area where they usually fail or do that to the original tank to make it last a little longer.
Thanks

I can only speak for Non M but this is where mine cracked. With how the crack is I think it's really where ever on the plastic it fatigues rather than a set seam

Garage List
If your current one is original and hasn't failed in nearly a decade and a half, I wouldn't worry about reinforcing the new one
Reinforcing it may even cause a prematurely fail since it may not expand and contract evenly.

That's a good point, if I wrap the sides in fiberglass/carbon fiber it may just blow the top.
Unfortunately, I think the market is too small for an aftermarket dedicated aluminum tank to be profitable.
