They offered to fix it of course but at bmw labor rates. I said, I'm not stupid.

YouTube had a video.

Did it free in 10-15 min.

Part on Ebay= $15.00.

Do you recall what the error code was ? I'm just trying to get to the bottom of mine without having to go to the stealers. I have some diagnosis s/w so might be able to diagnose it but I need to understand what I need to look for first !!

Just to clarify, you had the airbag sensor always light up and it was just the ignition switch. For $15 it might be worth just changing that anyway.

I had a few problems occurring.

Airbag light in my instrument panel
Dash radio was turning off
Convertible top bottoms not working
Airbag light in center console illuminated

Did not get an error code. Just had it diagnosed.

You might be able to get it diagnosed for free at an Autozone or mechanic shop for cheap.

I had mine done at bmw when they replaced my new top that my Ins paid for. Lol

BMW told me it was my ignition switch in the column.

Get the part number and check of Ebay.
When I bought mine, it was around $15.00

Super easy fix.
There's a video on YouTube. Someone posted when he changed his out. Saved myself $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

$14 for a new ignition switch??! Where is it made, in a firecracker factory in Macau? That's scary-cheap.
