Talked to Rogue today. Units are expected in next week, another week for powder-coating, so a couple weeks away from the shipping date.

I got the shipping notice as well.

Now - I need some opinions.

At 26K miles, I'm due for a valve adjustment in the next few weeks. I'm planning to hold off on brace installation until after the adjustment, because it appears that it would interfere to some degree with the service.

Any ideas?

I just checked their website and it shows that the current price on the Z4 racebrace is $395--$20 more than the first group buy price. This must be the new price.

Crap. I won't have a chance to test until this weekend.

Pyo, can you take some quick pics so we can see the issue?

It took several hours of careful filing and Dremel tool work on both sides to get the brace to fit. I checked to make sure that everything was absolutely level during the installation. I figured that it was a combination of manufacturing tolerances of both the car and the brace.

Did you have the car up on jacks to remove stress off the front suspension? I know on other cars I have had when installing a front brace it normally helps.

already put everything back in, with the exception of one of the strut tower bolts dropping down and not tightening up. Need to take off the wheel and hold with pliers to get it fastened. I'll try again this weekend and take pics this time. Overall, when one side fit, the other side needed to be pulled and twisted to get the bolts to line up with the hole.

Would really like to avoid doing this since I do not have a dremel

No, per the instructions provided from RE it stated the car needed to be on a level surface, which I did.

There was another fanatic during the install that had an E46 M3 and he stated his RE race brace installed with no problems; straight bolt on.

We even tried to jack up one side at a time to get it to fit but no dice.

Here are pics from yesterday to visually check the fitment (did not undo nuts)

I have been talking with member "pal" through pm and he had issues with fitment also but was able to install. pal had to lift the car up, lower the studs, place the race brace into position, and lowered the car to get the studs/struts to line up. the studs were all the way inside on his install with this method. alignment was lost through this method.

looks like i'll have to get a shop to install the brace since an alignment is needed afterwards.

PYO,

Your photos show the same problem that I had. It wasn't just the studs that didn't line up, but the camber placement pin as well. I tried jacking the car on one side, then the other to see if that had an impact. As far as I could tell, jacking the car did nothing to improve the problem.

One thing that I noted was that the studs were very close to being centered in the slots on both sides. If they had been positioned all the way toward the center of the car, the brace would have come much closer to fitting. However, the camber placement pins and the firewall brace mounting would still have been a problem.

Dremel tool is not a necessity, just a round file and a ton of patience!

am i being an ass here but...... you guys have paid for an item... its not a cheap item and let be honest, fitment is off..... yet your having to mod this piece to fit your car.... Fuck that...... send this mofo back and get Re to re manufacture these parts or mod them in house and repaint them..... imo that's unacceptable. its not even alittle bit off..... its quite some way out.

I completely agree with you beedub. What was the point of having a member go through prototype test fitment only to have the final product not fit without modifications. Why does the E46 Race Brace fit without modifications but ours require it? This is supposed to be a simple bolt modification.

The E46-M3 brace doesn't fit the Z4M. The cross piece connection is at a different angle.

I was trying to state that the E46 owners do not have to mod their race brace for install. During my install, there was an e46 m3 owner with an re race brace on his car.
