Surging engine

If this has been addressed previously I apologize. I have a 2007 z4 3.0i With about 38,000 miles. I have noticed lately the engine seems at times to surge or buck on takeoff and if I floor the gas it takes off but, at times seems to back off on it\'s own. Is this part of the electronic gas peddle? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue, except for my car is an 03' 3.0i. I get the same bucking and surging at part throttle starting at 3k to 4k rpm. In my engine (m54) it's one of two things: leaking Vanos seals, or a problem with the engine computer. Some people have had success with reflashing the computer. I, personally haven't done anything about mine yet but it's on my to do list. Good luck with your car, and let me know what the cause was when you get to the bottom of it!
