I hate the way the horn on the Z4m sounds like

What's up people - pretty soon I need remove my front bumper to replaced some broken plastic parts I've seen under and I would like to take the opportunity to replace my minivan horn on the ///M.

What options do we have? My dad had a 94 MB E320 back in the days and that horn was loud and sounded just right. I also had a 2008 civic Si and that horn was also loud and direct.

Thoughts anyone??

All the bimmer horns I've heard sound like pansies. It'd be worth your time to put in one of those train horns

add a real horn for $50

I Added a loud, compact Stebel motorcyle horn to the car. Existing horn remains functional, with a relay trigger added to its circuit via vampire tap. Relay sends +12V to the Stebel. Mounted in right front fender area just above the brake duct. Had one in my MINI also. They are plenty loud at 139 dB, and the two-tone model sounds very Italian. Can't beat the size/price/ease. There's a demo video on the site linked above. Leave the 'train horns' in the trains.

If there's a particular sound you like, buy the horn (or horns if dual tone) for that car from a wrecker, fabricate a bracket if necessary, and mount them in place of your stockers using the original mounting holes. If the electrical connectors are different, I would make an adapter cable to keep the original BMW connectors intact. The way no wiring is butchered and you can easily restore it to stock.

Myself, I rarely use the things - I remember driving a car for about three years before I found out the horn didn't work ...

Good morning all from Texas

My car is loud enough that when the person in front of me doesn't realize that the light turned green while he/she is texting... all I do is rev the car twice and they move. But here in TX it's OK to text, eat, smoke put on make up at once while driving... and turn signals are just for decoration and the left lane is chillin cruising slow lane.

I'm starting to like the motoycycle horn, I think a friend of mine already has one.

When I bought my S2000 in 1999, the first time I honked the horn I couldn't believe how weak and ineffective it sounded. It was kind of a Road Runner "meep-meep" sound and I discovered that it was inadequate to get the attention of someone driving a huge SUV with the windows up and the radio on.

The first thing I did with the car is pull off the front bumper and install a pair of Hella horns that I bought from Griot's Garage. The next time a huge Ford Excrement wandered into my lane I honked my horn and the driver was completely startled, looking around for something much larger. 118db will get people's attention!

However, I think that the M Roadster's horn is fine.
