Aero Front bumper pros/cons

So I've been spending some time under my new car and the front bumper is a mess.... I cannot deal with the shoddy repairs to the lower bumper skin; looks fine from above but below it's like Joan River's face.

It seems that the Aero front bumper is less expensive than the oem M bumper. It seems to lack brake ducts as efficient as the M's so that's likely a deal breaker. I do like the addition of fog lights though!

Has anyone gone with this mod or should I avoid it if I'm tracking the car?

Also, can someone point me to a parts site that actually has the oem front bumper listed? Most sights have the components but not the front skin on thier menus.

Mucho thanks!!!

from a non m owner...the only thing I don't like is the side profile of the bumper.

I've done it and love it and have also gotten many compliments from other M owners during local meets.

As for brake ducts, take a closer look at the ducts on the M, when you dig in, you'll realize the only thing they're really good at doing is cooling the face of your front tires, unless your wheels are turned all the way in one direction, then that tiny little opening might actually cool the brakes.

Fog lights are definitely cool, but I'm not going to lie I haven't hooked mine up yet, still on my to do list.

Looks-wise, I love it, I personally think it looks way better than the M front, and matches my aero sides perfectly. Some people might cringe at the fact of putting a non M part on an M car, but I could care less. I like it and so far there are no downsides.

Check getbmwparts.com and go to the Z4 section, they sell a complete kit for a good price and the service is great. Better hurry though, last time I checked the available Aero fronts for our cars left in the world was down to single digits.

I also have the aero bumper and side skirts on my vert and have loved it. Now don't hate me for this lol but from looking at pictures, to me the aero bumper looks a bit off on the coupes compared to the convertibles. I would prefer an M bumper for the coupe. But whatever that's just my opinion. If you do go for the aero bumper I would also purchase it from getbmwparts.com as Gferil said. When I ordered the aero parts it took a little while to ship b/c one of the side skirts was back-ordered from Germany but I eventually got them after about a month and a half. Packaging was great and nothing was damaged. Be careful b/c I had to order the tow hook cover seperately due to the size being a bit different, you'll need the one from the pre-facelifted bumper (ones that came with the round foglights). To the OP, you said that your M bumper is not looking very good, is that also due to rock chips? I also had that problem with my black car which they are very visable on with my original bumper and when I got the new one I decided to try out a clear bra and its been a huge difference. Definitely worth it if you want to keep it looking clean. Good luck!

Yes that's a bit of duct tape on the left side of the pic, be careful driving off the ferry!

Ouch! I've scraped mine once in the couple of months I've had it installed and it's gut wrenching when it happens lol. Did you take it off to work on it?
