Magnaflow...
So I live practically next door to their HQ in Rancho Santa Margarita...I stopped by asking if they had anything in development for Z4M, as some people have modded the M3 setup for our cars. They got my info for potential testing and said they'd look into it.

I will make one of them as a custom order, just as a heads up.

too bad all the aftermarket companies are out west, whether it be for exhaust work to audio upgrades. i'd gladly donor my car for test purposes if it meant more options for the z community

I think it would be really good if Magnaflow would work out another option for x-pipe and cans as a set. Section 1 probably isn't going to change for the majority of people, and there are already good header options. Problem is going to be the very niche market of Z4M owners and low volume. I could see them coming up with cans pretty easily using a muffler they already manufacture. X-pipe would require more R&D and machine set up. That said, with modern CNC mandrel benders, once it's programed, it's pretty much a done deal.
OP - if you do get to help them out with some R&D, push for an x-pipe option

^^It will not happen, I had contacted them and offered them to make system for us (I was going to pay for) and they said not profitable enough to use their time even if was 20 systems.
So I will custom and sell them on my own after using their universal versions. |

I tried to use their smallest cans to do a semi-custom set up and they weren't even close. I baled and went complete custom with Aero Turbine with resonators instead. Once you read and read and read, you will be as frustrated as I was and just have a real mandrel bending shop do what you specifically want done.

One of the borla r&d factories is right down the road from me. I went and did the same there and I even know a few people but they've never gotten back to me on producing anything. I suppose it's just the low production numbers.

I'll dig up the part number on the Aero's when I get home tonight.
Borla was my first choice as I used it on my Cobra and loved it. Unfortunately, they are not big on experimenting with anything for anyone. From day one of owning my 996tt (4 yrs now) I have been calling them every six months about their R&D for the 996tt and they finally just told me to fugedaboudit after saying they would work on something. This, after thay have had a system for the non-turbo'ed 996 since they have come out. All they have to do is tweek what they already have for the NA model and they could make thousands!!!!! No go. Since getting this bland treatment from them, I have stopped touting their brand for anything. Hence my Magnaflow direction. Corsa would be badass, but as my fabricator says, it's only as good as the engine output and platform. It would be worth a shot for anyone willing to experiment.
