Key problems
I had 2 set of keys one of them is basically worthless and the other one somtimes unlock and sometimes and it locks. I've brought it to the dealership many times so they finally decided to replace it. Come to find out same exact problem. What could be the issue?

Have you tried to re-pair the key to the car? When I got my car the key had lost its pairing connection...30sec procedure pairs them again. I believe I found the procedure on bimmerforums

The keys for the Z4 are notoriously insensitive. I had all sorts of problems with my old Z4 -- it would pretty much open only if I was next to it, and sometimes it wouldn't open the passenger door on the second press. The Z4M's seems to be working a bit more reliably so far, but the range is still dramatically less than any other car I've ever driven.

Here you go , try this first, Make sure to use your spare key for a few days to charge the key battery. Have both keys and do both keys at the same time. If you do only one key the other will not work until you do both at the same time.

The keys do blow. I tried to open the top last night and only got it half way before it wouldn't go another inch. Standing RIGHT next to it. Usually opens the locks, but have to be within 10 feet of it. I think the keys hold a charge good for one use before the poop all their charge. (exaggeration but not far from the truth)

My One touch module + remote just arrived at my friend's house in the UK, I'll do a write up of installation and stuff as soon as it gets re-shipped to me in the US.
With it installed, I'll be able to hit unlock three times on the key and the top will go down all the way on it's own (without having to hold it). Can't wait |

It's not a standard part. An electronic engineer in the UK made the module and wrote the software himself for it. Sadly they wouldn't ship to the US:
