TPMS help..

I have an 08' Z4MC, in spring I took off the stock TPMS and put them on my new set of 19 x 8.5 & 19 x 9.5 sport line wheels..now my sensor light is on. Whats the suggested PSI for low profile tires? and how long do the TMPS sensors last?

Last thing I want to do is unmount all the tires and switch sensors or can I narrow it down to one wheel and change that one..

If I have to replace sensors an suggestions on a replacement part?

Thanks guys

I see you're near me (I'm in Westchester). With the cold weather we're now experiencing I would just reset the TPMS and see if the error goes away. Colder temps is known to throw TPMS for a loop (either the tire pressure falling below the threshold or the TPMS just doesn't like it!).

I'll say that about twice a year I get a TPMS alert and nothing is wrong. I check the tire pressures, see that they are ok, reset the TPMS and all is well until the next time.

This is all assuming that after you moved the TMPS sensors to your new wheels last year all was well.

Yea, it started friday night when it dipped into freezing, I checked all tire pressure (I'll double check again)

I know the sensors last for roughly 10 yrs, how do you reset? I hold the button down, light goes off for a sec then back on..usually I check psi, drive couple miles and it turns off..

What PSI do you keep your tires at? I'm running 38psi, but I thought I used to run 42psi..

if you go to a tire shop they should have a tool that can talk to the sensors and let you know if there are any issues

Doesn't the door placard recommend 30psi all around? I'm pretty sure that's the spec, at least on a z4m. 38-42 is waaay too high

30psi seems too soft, even on aftermarket wheels and tires..

correction, I checked the sticker..it does say 30psi..but does that change if you change the stock wheels?

yes, 19 x 8.5 F & 19 x 9.5 R

my old car with the same wheel specs I ran high (42-44psi) and found less damage to the rims themselves..

^ This.

Discount tire will check the sensors without having to dismount tires and tell you if you have a bad sensor. Takes 2 mins. Sounds like lower temps but just take it to the shop to get them checked.

I can understand running higher pressure to avoid rim damage but that's awfully high. Your kidneys must take a beating.
