Idle issues
Hi Folks.
My car: 2006 BMW Z4, 3.0si convertible. I have a surging issue. No check engine light, but surging at idle. worse when in drive than in neutral. I've cleaned the MAF twice with MAF cleaner. I have read the or scanned the car with my schwaben scanner and there is a code there. I clear the code and it returns but I can't figure out how to track down which sensor is causing the idle issue. If anyone can provide some direction here I would be most greatful. I'm leaning towards changing out the MAF but I'd hate to just replace parts for nothing if that isn't what I need to do. Thanks very much for any suggestions, comments, and ideas. Richard. |

I read this on a forum regarding the idle issue....
Ok, fixed it! I took the ICV and cleaned it. However, I honestly believe it was the Throttle ECU. To reset insert key and turn to position 2 for 10 seconds, then off for 10 seconds then fire up the car. I didn't test them independently, but I'm leaning more toward the Throttle ECU needing a reset. does this actually do anything? I'll give it a try since I don't see the harm. I didn't have any issues until the batter was dead and i pulled it out for a week while I waited for my new alternator. Could it just be a reset like what I posted? Thanks. |
