Center Glove Box
My Center glove box has broken off the hinges. Has anyone had the same problem as BMW is claiming I broke it off

Not happened yet but it seems easy to break off.

The whole door? My prong that turns the light off bent pretty bad but my door is quite stable! How did it break off?

OK got a formal response from BMW stating that because the car is out of warranty they will not be repairing the glove box as they do not feel is a factory defect.
So if you have had any problems with yours please let me know or push me to a website that has it documented. Was there ever a bmw notice on this part?

The light works when the center part of the door is not down in the switch (it goes down there when you shut the door). Mine bent so the light was always on. I am sure you can replace the light if it is not working, should not be too hard.
About getting the car fixed outside of warranty, I think you might be SOL. This is the first time I have heard of this problem. I peruse most of the BMW sites as well so I think I would have seen something about it if it was not an isolated event. Sorry

On mine the release above the lid broke, followed shortly by the softop release on the very top between the seats. I had never even touched the softop release, it just fatigued and broke on its own. Luckily that was all one piece and easy to replace.
It seems the plastic they used gets brittle over time and there's enough stress on the components to cause it to break. I'd just pull up realoem.com and look up the part number to see how much Tischer charges. |

I just read a memo by Stephen Hawking on wormholes and it got me thinking, does anyone actually put gloves in a "glove box" anymore?
Why not a crap box, insurance card box, parking ticket box, or random pieces of paper I'll never actually look at again box? Just saying... |
