lockable storage area in a coupe?

I just realized that there is no lockable storage area in my Coupe. Does anyone find this odd? What's the point of a valet key if we don't have a lockable storage area?

I don't recall having a valet key for Z4. It came with two remote key and the plastic emergency key.

My opinion is locking something in a compartment in the car is worse than not doing it. Put $40 in a locked compartment, someone breaks into your car and does hundreds of dollars of damage getting to it (take screw driver and pry it open). Personally wouldn't leave anything of real value in the car when I leave it unless there is no choice and then I just put it in the trunk and hope for the best.

From what I recall the valet key won't open the passenger door or the trunk.

Also, I was thinking the glove compartment had a lock on it... no? It has been a long time since I've been able to drive my car so I am unsure.

This is my exact response when everyone asks why I always park with the top down. If someone wants to reach in and steal my phone charger fine, better than replacing a slashed top.

I'm not sure that you could fit anything in the glove box anyways. All that's in mine is the window sticker.

I managed to shoehorn a tire gauge and my registration in the glove box. It's tight, but doable

This actually makes too much sense. The internet cannot handle this type of logic, you need to stop lol.

Personally, I just throw everything either behind the passenger seat where it can't be seen or in the trunk when I park. There is a series of videos on youtube from a reporter in the Bay Area called "people behaving badly" and he often highlights parked cars with GPS and other visible items. He goes off of police advice not to leave anything "stealable" visible in the car because even if its a 5 year old gps, someone will still smash and grab to make a quick buck.

About a year ago police came through our neighborhood and put notes on all cars parked on the street with a grade A-F and notes about what was left in the car and how likely it was to be broken into. The "smash and grab" is difficult to police and you are better off not giving someone a reason to do it.
