my first ever CEL!! lol

Well today after buying the car brand new in 2007 i got my first CEL.

I decided early this morning to get out for a real nice run, beautiful sunshine, 6 deg C weather, and BY god did the car feel strong, TQ felt soo much stronger and the car just hauled from low and became a banshee @ the top end, so so so so pleased with the Supercharger still to this day, amazing power deliver.... and T/C flashing in 3rd gear today!!! lol

now when i got home i left her idling on the drive for 2 mins so i can check the oil, turned the car off then 10 mins later got back into the car to drive into the garage, cranked her over and Their it is....

my first ever CEL in this car...... Bear in my car is a Euro car only the axle back/xpipe has been swapped out, the important bits (headers, S-pipe, CAts, Sensors ,EGT) are all stock as it came from the factory....

anyway i pulled the codes and got

02 heater circuit malfunction (bank 1, sensor 2), the second code was the same again with the words "pending code" next to it..... now i cleared the codes and ran the car up and nothing???? no CEL, no pending code being registered.......

so anyone had this one??? Maybe my sensors are going, i no this is common on the s54, im still on my orginal 2007 sensors installed @ the factory so ive done really well.... this car as been completley trouble free, really proud of her tbh....

wierdly i havent been able to get this to come back... any ideas??

I think this CEL means you should part out the RPI GT exhaust and sell them to me.

lol jk, i think it's one of those random sensor plausibility checks that happens when the car is turned on, some sensor is on its way out and when turning on the car the sensor is just giving irradically disproportionate values that hit the plausibility check before stabilizing in a few seconds.

I'd say ignore it for a while, if it happens again, then it's serious.

I think you're right in possibly needing a new sensor soon. When i do my header swap i plan on replacing all the sensors because i had to go back twice to change the sensors on my E46 M3.

definatly, well i dont think the car will be used for a while now anyway so maybe so the plan is to do the DKF exhaust and swap all the sensors out!!! Not bad though ive lasted 4 years on the original ones, really pleased with her....

had the same code on my 2007 USDM z4m ... cleared it couple of times but it kept coming on after 30 or so miles... replace the O2 sensor and problem solved.... in my case it was bank 2 sensor 2 which basically means the post cat sensor from the 2nd bank.

Got my first SES (Service Engine Soon) light this morning. The car was running fine and the light came on after about 25 miles of driving. The ambient temperature was 35 degrees at the time. I will have to scan and get the code. Hopefully it is nothing major

These cars don't like cold starts. Mine was acting funny this morning but I was parked on a slope with an almost empty fuel tank

I think the temperature in my garage was around 50 degrees. The car started and ran perfectly (still does). I refilled the car yesterday and drove for over 60 miles afterward. Re-gas cap is on tight.

I'm wildly guessing, but it may be a throttle position code. It just SOUNDS familiar. hahaha

The SES hasn't come back yet after over 100 miles. Hopefully it was something silly as a loose gas cap.
