Z4 Tuning shops in Florida or the Southeast??

I haven't been to successful in my search for any sort of reliable chip set or like-there-of for my 2.5i. I ordered this one thing called a BMW surge chip from auto direct wholesale and the guys at my speed shop wouldn't even install it because it was so junky (thankfully they didn't). I guess my next best option would be to have it thrown on the dyno and have the computer software tuned. Does anyone know anything about this or where I can get it done?

man...

the only thing that i can think of of the top of my head is to head to a dealership that offers Dinan upgrades....

abhorrently expensive and you won't really get any major gains in power... we're talking single digit addition for a ECU reflash. even if you put on every option that Dinan makes you are still talking less than 20hp.

best bet is to go Forced Induction... obviously a costly upgrade, but at that point you might be talking as much as 80 additional HP which could make it worth it.

good luck!

Hi J,

I'm not sure what part of South Florida you're in, but I have been hearing some good things about Billet Design Motorsports in Pompano. They are not BMW specific but have a nice dyno set up and do quite a bit of Porsche work.

I have not used these guys myself, but it may be worth a telephone call or visit for you.

First of all--

I can definitely appreciate you wanting more performance out of your Z4. However- you have two major issues confronting you. 1st is that you have a 2.5... Nice car for driving on sundays, but a stoplight scorcher it will never be. Best bet is to trade it on a 3.0SI or M coupe. 2nd is- unless you go Dinan (and I don't think they tune the 2.5 but I will check tommorrow at work) aftermarket tuning on BMWs typically is horrendous at best. I can't tell you how many times we see a "modded" BMW come into the dealer for service and the techs all chuckle at the sloppily installed, poorly fitted, under engineered "performance mods" that are typically painted blue or bright red or some other high vis color.
Not trying to be a downer-- just my honest opinion.

He did nice work on my Z4.

Active Autowerkes is in Miami. They don't have a kit for the Z4, but I've chatted with the guys and they said a kit from the 2.5 or 3.0 E46 would fit in a Z4.

I have been using the motorsports division of BMW in clearwater since it is close to me. Probably paying a slight premium since it is located in the dealership, but the guys there have given me great deals.
