DKF Section 1 GB kit - whats your pleasure 300cell or 100cell CATs

I'm definitely in the market to do something about my section 1.
I have headers going on soon and don't want to modify the OE section 1.

To that end I knew DKF is working hard to get a section kit out soon, so I got a hold of Doug and had a long discussion on what the guys would prefer that are interested in a new section 1.

The basic differences and goals for each are pretty obvious.

100 cell = better performance, more rasp, emissions sniff test..... questionable.
300 cell = less performance, less rasp, better chance of passing the sniff test and less chance of a CEL light.

For me I'm definitely in the 300cell camp and would not consider a 100 cell option.

Talking to Doug, he's trying to get the best deal for us and is negotiating with his vendors.
Its important that he knows the split in who wants 100 & who wants 300

This info will really help to get things rolling guys, so if you're thinking out a DKF section 1 kit, please chime in.

& cast your vote in the pole so that we can track what is needed

Please add you thoughts about your choice as it might help others decide.

Lets get his party started

TIA

Pretty sure our secondary cats are 200. I also think the euro cats are 200. I was planning on getting the 300 count from dkf, but now I'm not sure. It seems like 200 count cats would be optimal.

Don't forget, that if you drop the header CATS, you will still be running fewer total cells.

The two main things for me is minimizing rasp & running w/o CEL Light

Some don't mind the rasp sound , so 100 may be what they want.

I think it was recently established beyond a doubt (with photos of exposed cats under the heat shield) that the Euro Sec 1 cats are almost TWICE the size of ours.

Less material = better flow/ more power, which is precisely why I feel relocating our secondary O2's & EGT sensor is preferred over buying a used set of Euro Sec 1's.

However DKF's 100cell option would be a step up from that. That gets my vote

I would prefer not adding a tune to support the Fabspeed VAC Headers; if 100, 200 or 300 cell cats allow for the performance gains and no codes I'm in

Finding the results so far to be very interesting.
Nobody has voted "100 cell only"

for me it has to be the 100 cell option, the SS section 1 uses 100 cell and they are passing the emisions test over here in the UK so..... not bad, but ideally doug id like your other option that allows me to swap between the decat and catted sections!! this would be my ideal!!!

What would you do with the secondary sensors when running CAT-less"????

Would you be running CAT-less normally & just put CAT section back to pass emissions?

ian the DKF Decat section has the bungs in place, bear in mind on my s/C tune i can turn these off readily but for neatness purposes have them inplace :-)
during emissio test i simply load my cat'd tune up and put the cat sections in place!! job done!! For us FI guys i can't ignore the decat gains!, were talking 15/20+Whp proven......

Byron. Don't want to miss lead you the resonators do Not have o2 bungs in them they never did. There was not enough room (OAL ) to put them. In the bypass pipes are the only other option that have the o2 bungs.

I'm surprised that 300cell is leading the way.
I thought it would be closer to 50/50

That's great news Doug!

...so far it looks like 2:1 split 300:100

I don't have a horse in the race since I've got a total Euro setup. However, if I were in the market, I'd have to go for the 300 cell. I really can't see 100 cell passing smog in CA with a Euro header setup. I will say this would be a great option, since hacking up the stock cats isn't for everyone (and if not done correctly, is costly), and the Euro Cat solution is big $$$.

Of course, take my input with a grain of salt since again I'm not a potential buyer. I did not vote as I did not want to invalidate the poll.

My preference would 300 cell.
