Supersprint headers claim 30hp
Does anyone have the supersprint headers for the Z4M? How do you like them? How much extra HP are you getting?

you probably heard it that the dealership can only void your warranty if they can prove the aftermarket part caused failure. i don't really think anything is going to happen with aftermarket headers. maybe if ocha chimes in he can help you.
The supersprint headers don't have cats, so your going to get a check engine light because your post cat o2 sensors aren't going to be reading normally (these just read emissions and crap like that). The only way to get rid of this is to do one of the following: 02 sims, software that deletes the light (what i have and no problems), lengthen you post cat o2 sensors and bring weld bungs past you second cats, or put a piece of electrical tape over the light lol.

i have the ess software and i am pleased with the product and their service, i have my ecu back in 3 days. but anyway the software is undetectable from the dealer accodring to ess. If something happened to my car that was engine related and would cost big money i would just send my ecu back and they will reflash it back to stock and then i would put my stock headers back on. If the dealer finds out you have the software and something happens they will probably use that as an excuse.

Thanks for all the info. I thinking I'm going to do a full supersprint system with the sport tips and ESS software should all together give me between 30-50hp which is exactly what the car feels like it's missing. It's fast but still only just as fast as the new 3.5 Z4 (both do 0-60 in 4.9) and I want to clearly pull away from non-M cars like that. I want to run with the new M3 and others in its class.

for the money you are going to spend for all of that, i think your better to pick up ess supercharger and really be able to keep up with the new m3 and others in its class. ocha has one for sale that is gently used. just my 2 cents.

Leave the stock headers, and just get the supercharger. 500 crank Hp should be enough to deal with all M3's from a straight line perspective.

Yeah the stock headers weren't built for a supercharger. If I got that I would have to replace the headers anyway...

You are all silly. If you want to keep up with an M3, buy an M3. If you like your car, drive it and enjoy it and stop having HP envy. The car is what it is. It is a good car, with great performance and you don't have to prove anything to anyone. Stop and enjoy what you have and stop wishing it was something it is not. You are very fortunate to have what you have.

Um, BMW in its typical understated manner claims 0-60 in 4.8 for the Z4M and something like 5.1 for the Z45 3.5. People have done better. Don't go with what the idiot's at C&D etc have posted. I still can't believe how they managed to get slower times for a Z4M compared to the E46 M3, which is over 200lbs heavier and makes about 10whp less on average. People on the forums have run much faster times stock.
I think BMW's changed the #'s for the Z4M now that the new Z4 is out. The Z4 3.5 is 120lbs lighter than a 335 and it has the same power. 335's in stock form lose to Z4M's in a straight line all the time (forget about tracks). If all you want is straight line power in a 2 seater, do yourself a favour and get the Z4 3.5 and chip it; don't bother with a Z4M. You are missing the entire concept of the car.

Straight line performance isn't all I want, it's half of what I want. And as still being a part of what I want, I still want it. Get it? I'm perfectly happy with the car right now. In fact, I LOVE IT. But 30 extra horses would be nice, not going overboard but just a little extra boost on top of the car's current power. I would never supercharge it because imho, that ruins it. Now back on topic... does anyone have a supersprint system and do you like it?

Original Question- No not 30whp at least. Typical on this engine is 20whp. Stepped headers will net another 3-5whp at a price no object premium. I was a dyno day a couple months ago where 15 or so E46 M3s stock, with various brand headers and the cars with headers were all at 270-280whp and the stock cars were 250-257. The cars with intakes and other exhast bits without headers were near the low end of stock. My car made the highest hp for the day at 287whp with Active Autowerke headers, Supersprint exhaust and ESS tune. Headers and a tune are good for more low end torque and linear hp to redline.
However, gears are still the best mod without going for NOS or FI.

my post said 20-25 not whole new beast. 4.10s do make the car move better than the headers.
