Old BMW Fanatic, New E85 Owner

Picking this up tomorrow for my new DD!!!

I joined here in 2009 when I had my 335i. Love that thing to death, but I moved on to VW's for a few years. Back in a BMW now. I still have a few 80s models though. E30, E28, etc.

Immediate plans:
Three Stage IM swap
Dyno tune at TopSpeed in Atlanta, GA
KW coils
OZ Wheels, something obnoxious like bronze supraleggras
Exhaust... Need to research what sounds the best.

^ My favorite engine! So smooth and feels more powerful than it actually is.

^ Soon!!!! Muahah. FYI those are the dummy plugs for the DISA valves.

^ I went ahead and gave it a full service. Cleaned out the intake plumbing, replaced the filter with a K&N drop-in (Not worried about oil, I've been using these for over a decade).

Poured some Pentosin valve cleaner and fuel cleaner into the gas tank. Going to run the tank dry and then change the oil. I need to order diff and tranny fluid, going with Redline MTF(L?) and Redline 75W90.

Questions: Is Mobil 1 0W40 ok? What is the oil capacity again? 6.2qts?

It was delivered this morning. In great shape, looks like new. I could only find one paint chip on the whole thing.

Lovely car Alex. How's the driving experience now that you've had a couple of days with her?

Different...

I have owned a lot of different cars, and a lot of different BMWs.

The Z4 feels weird, yet delightful.

I feels like an old-school roadster, i.e. Morgan.

I am in love!

It isn't the best car I have owned, but it is the most rewarding car to drive.

Done so far:
-Complete maintenance kit (Amsoil tranny and diff, Mobil 1 oil, Mann filters, Gummi-pflege, convertible top kit, maf cleaned, intake plumbing cleaned).
-ZHP shift knob
-Wheels and tires (pending)
-Morimoto D2S bulbs
-Alignment
-Custom Magnaflow exhaust (Not installed)
-K&N drop in

Still researching suspension and si swap. I need to order si brakes.

That's awesome man. I'm actually looking to buy one now too- done all my homework, and just waiting for the right one to come along. The waiting sucks!! and you posting these pics of this immaculate vehicle doesn't help either : (

Could you please clarify what you mean by "weird" ? Is the car quirky?

It is my first roadster. I have driven plently, but I just came out of DD a diesel FWD wagon. Feels so different in a good way.

I have owned fast cars before, F/I Mustangs, Bolt-on 335i/ M3, etc, but the 3.0i feels quick, which I love.

Also I am 6'2" so it feels a bit more cramped, but I love it. I have tons of head room, which is great.

^ Doing this, an oil change, shift knob install, and a full detail this weekend.
